Does anyone have details of the conviction reported in the national press on Friday 14th March?

The 31 year old Scottish driver of a Skoda Octavia was convicted at Carlisle Crown Court. The report said he was clocked at "more than 140 mph on a motorway."

He was jailed for a year and banned for 10 years.

Anyone know if there was more to it than just speeding?

Aparently he was under a lifetime ban from Dundee sheriff court. So why would he get banned for another 10 years?

Seems it was a lot more than just speeding....

Apart from doing 140 on the motorway which might attract the BIB (not that I'm critisising speeding OK).

Thanks, McEcM, that explains it.

I shall now refrain from asking the Home Secretary why 140mph attracts jail whilst dropping a concrete block off a motorway bridge ends with a slapped wrist...!!

I read this article in the Evening Standard last night, nice of them to put all the facts of the case in the article.
