Is there a list anywhere of the cars that fall into carbon emissions band G?

Congestion charge or pollution charge?

Interesting wording in the last sentence of the report....

Where does it say these will be exempt?

I currently have an LPG Range Rover, so would be interested to know if in the future LPG is on the exemption list.

All alternative/dual fuel vehicles are exempt.

Unless he has removed this along with this Band G £25 Marxism Levy then you're free and clear.

Needs pre-registering with the Kengestion charge lot but once thats done, you're away.

This is almost Daily Mail like reporting from the BBC. The fact is that "high polluting" cars will face the higher charge - that includes SOME 4x4s, but also luxobarges. Most 4x4s, by model, will NOT fall into that band.

And, of course, "high polluting" is based on the flawed CO2 argument, but I am assuming it is to enrich air quality rather than to have any general effect on climate change. In which case I would ask how much of that collected is going back into further increasing air quality?

Just how many thousands of times cleaner is a Range Rover compared to your average bus in London?

Presumably they will allow Jeeps, seeing as they are the most environmentally friendly, and hit Prius' hard seeing how much they cost to dispose of.

Ah, I love living in a free country.

Where those scum in power are free to tax us to death for disagreeing with their views.

Ooooh that makes me angry. Ken Twat Livingstone saying that because you chose one of the most polluting cars then you can afford to pay £25 each time you drive it really proves what an arse he is.

AND he is removing the 90% reduction for living in the charging zone.

Therefore, if you live in the (extended) CC zone, each time you move your car, even if you drive it a tiny distance, you are bent over for the sum of £25. Fu6king ridiculous.

Oli.

ETA: Look at the list of Band G cars - practically anything with an engine of more than 2 litres is band G! This charge is nothing to do with congestion AT ALL.

This is just the start.

The system has now been developed that it can now query the DVLA db for emmission catergory of a particular vehicle as it crosses into the CC zone.

To start with they will target the 4x4s as they are easy prey. But the thinking in two years time will move to pricing each particular band.

It basically covers anything over a 2.0 4 cylinder.

If I read that correctly, then good news is it says cars in emissions duty class A & B will be kengestion charge free. So thats most Smart car sorted then. I know there are a few ForTwo owners here that will be happy about that

Class B (I believe) includes the Megane 106 dci, hence my annual £50 car tax - same as for a Prius.

That makes no sense.

An A4 2.0 FSi Quattro is in Band G, hardly a gas guzzler.

Fantastic! Just mentioned this to a Rangie owning mate and he said - may as well upgrade to the super-charged version then, it's still gonna cost the same
