My peugeot 307 1.6 TIP Auto Estate

Can anyone help me understand what happened to me last week?

I had a new Peugeot(above) bought in April this year (2006). It has done about 500 miles. About two weeks after I bought it I turned into our drive, which is about 20 metres long, and the engine roared as though the car was taking off. I got it under control and stopped - I had a fright but put it down to it being a new car.

I must add that I have been driving for more than 35 years on a daily basis with the past 15 yearrs primarily in Automatics.

The car then developed a problem with the boot lock. Sometimes it worked and sometimes not and of course there is no way of getting the back open with a key. This was a problem for me as I use the car to take out dogs and it was very frustrating to put them in and then drive to somewhere and not be able to get them out again. The dogs wrere not amused either!

I took the car to the dealer, but when I tried to deomonstrate the problem, of course it wouldn't do so. However they took the car in and carried on trying to make it happen and I got a phone call later that day to say it had happened to them, they could see what it was and had repaired it.

It behaved for a few months then the intermittent boot problem started to happen again. That was three weeks ago.

Now for the point of this story.

Two weeks ago I tuned into our drive and at the same point as before the engine roared and the car shot forward. I could not stop and came down the drive, mounted a low wall demolishing it, went along the top of the wall at a 45-degree tilt (thus slowing the car) and came to a stop outside the front door. The airbags activated and the car is a write off. There were no skid marks and I have photos taken straight afterwards.

My problem is that there is no way that it could have been driver error. My feeling is that there was some kind of electrical failure.

Has anyone out there had any similar experience with this model or other Peugeots?
