Once again we must now all bend over and “take it like a man “ as the government shafts us for more road tax . Wonderful all you 1L / electric car driving lesbians say . Save the earth !
, stop the rising seas , stifle the winds turn off your lights and don’t go on holiday because the planet is dying its showing us it discontent it is angered by our selfish behaviour! I say bollox !. show me the proof!

the planet has undergone changes for thousands of years, it has experienced extreme temperature changes , rising and falling seas its entire life. Even the dinosaur’s didn’t last. Did they drive fast cars? Are we yet to un-earth a mammoth sized 4*4 driven by….well…a mammoth!. or Perhaps they all farted and eat to much and that brought about there demise. I think they became extinct because that’s what happens some times , it just happens. True , auto gasses may harm our air , many a time I have walked past a bus or coach and choked on thick black lung blistering smoke
. But I don’t drive a bus or a lorry!. What about natural gasses? The billons of tons of natural gasses that visit our earth’s atmosphere every day. From rotting leaves to Chinese power stations there are many gasses swilling about us. It’s easy to jump on a bandwagon. Thousands of years ago a guy wrote a book about being nice to people. Even to this day we still celebrate his birthday every Christmas.
Just because enough people are conned into believing every thing they are told it should not become a law. Especially when it is bases on such flimsy evidence.
The sickest thing of all though is the message that is sent buy this crazy tax to the next generation of kids we bring up into this inbred run country
. 
“ Do well at school kids and you will all earn enough money to f*ck our planet into the next ice age!”.
So even if you think most of what iv said is rubbish you still have to agree with the last point.

Yes I watched that programme to and was amazed to find very little coverage of it on the media. Well I say amazed, I shouldnt have been really when the media, especially the BBC, has been anti-car pro green hype for quite some time now. Did anyone else also notice how much this programme seems to have been ignored not just by the media as a whole, but also our MP,s? The whole thing will come to a head soon as its really beginning to get on a lot of peoples nerves. And dont get me started on dave hippy cameron as his plans are even worse!!! Phew theres that rant over till the next one. probably tomorrow!!

Superb programme! Whilst i agree we should conserve natural energy/fuel, i see no link with man made CO2 emmissions and climate change.Our government seems to be using the global warming 'concern' just to tax us all! These taxs are used to run this mis-managed country.

Forget 2 years!!! At present climate science cant predict what the weather will be next week let alone 2 years!

I do about 2-3k miles a year in my car. It is not a 4x4, it is a mid-sized family saloon, with alleged emissions of 314 g/km. So presumably next year's car tax will be £400 or so.

ing s have to go. This is ing preposterous, the tax is quite clearly a politics of envy job trying to target large 4x4 vehicles but it's also unfairly hammering ing normal sized ing cars. My MG ZT is hardly large, overweight or massively polluting. A ing diesel Focus used for commuting 20k miles a year will put out MUCH more pollution than my car. ing antisocial engineering. Put the tax on fuel, then the polluter pays. Simple as that. This country's been ruined by these s and even if the opposition were the perfect common-sense party (which they're not), they wouldn't be able to repair the damage in one term. What a ing waste of such a great place. Anyone know any grey-legality tricks to get cars re-registered as 'specials' or something that puts them well outside the banding of political envy? The 'green' in Labour's taxes are quite obviously of the 'green-eyed' rather than the ecological variety.

but guess the new thing is to be green, the fact that they can get lots of tax to pay for pet projects like iraq is irrelevent
how do the greens explain the heatwave during the roman period where grapes grew in newcastle or the 4-5000 years during the bronze age ? when temperatures a good 10C higher than they are now. No mass power stations then, let me gusss, the sun got a bit hotter, just like in the little ice age a few hundred years ago when it got a bit colder, so cold that the Thames froze over

These tax hikes can and will only apply to cars registered after 2006 I think it is. They cant retroactively apply them (or wont).
I agree fully with the rant but it wont affect me as I am too poor to buy a new car with a huge engine Of course in 5 or 10 years it will but I am still convincing myself I'll be a millionaire by then

Less people smoking = less cigarettes bought = less tax. Easy way to make up the difference is to attack the poor motorist...again. They know nearly all of us will continue to use our cars the same amount so its guarenteed income. Climate change is a conveinient buzz word and a fantastic excuse!

All my cars fall into this new tax catagory - which is nice.
Surely if we 'guzzle' gas we're paying tax per litre of 85% aren't we?
I see South West Trains have put their off-peak prices up by 20%. (Brian Souter, the chief executive of Stagecoach who own SWT and his sister Ann Gloag, are to collect £168m after the group decided to increase its capital return to shareholders by 75 per cent.) Good for them.

Although it does now seem indisputable that global warming is really happening, think how much bleaker mankind's future would be if we were facing global cooling instead! Of the two, give me warming anyday.
A further point to this, or so it seems to my non scientifically trained mind, is that global warming must, by definition, carry its own in-built balancing factor in that, as the atmosphere warms up it automatically reduces the need for artificial heating to sustain comfortable life, therefore less fossilised fuel needs to be burned, reducing the global-warming effect. Or am I just a cock-eyed optimist?
