I've heard somewhere that more than 2 cars driving together are illegal, is this true? and why?

apparently if you can be proved to be heading to join a convoy, even if your not with another car, thats illegal also.

No idea, but I did see an off-road convoy (if you see what I mean ) traveling down the A12 a few weeks ago.

I reckon that Kris Kristofferson would argue to the contrary.

I'm involved in a local classic car club and we have recently been informed that the rules have recently changed. Now the law states you are not allowed to have more than 12 vehicles traveling together without a license from one of the motoring organisations such as MSA or rac. Seems a bit daft to me, all you need to do is keep groups to 12 or less and avoid the whole license issue.

if there were 30 cars say. 3 groups of ten. how far apart do these groups need to be not to be classed as one?

It's all a bit confusing to be honest, we are struggling to fully understand the details. It states if you have more than 12 vehicles travelling together the organisers must obtain the appropriate license for each event at a cost of £xxx (depending which organisation you sign up with) But as i read it as long as I as an organiser only send off 10 at a time, the club is ok (I think) I don't recall any exact numbers for keeping apart, after all is it my fault if the 2nd group catches the first?

It will be to prevent terrorism. We all know terrorists travel in convoy or assemble in large groups. Ergo.
I wonder what will happen to charity runs in cars or on bikes. We have a big Easter Egg run up here on bikes, and there are a bit more than twelve. I wonder how they would stop a "convoy"?

Definitely an anti terrorism thing

Terrorists always drive nice cars in packs of 12+ down well know routes so not to be too suspicious hehe
