Difficult one this, I have my Landy, a trailer and some other farm equipment to spray and I don't know the differences between synthetic enamel and cellulose.

The plan is to practice on the farm stuff before hitting the Landy as I've not sprayed before. I'm guessing that it would be best to select one type and stick to it to avoid contaminating the thinners, paint, etc, but which?!

Can anyone give some advice as to which to go for?

I will be using primer as well, not just spraying straight onto existing paint, but are there any things to lookout for with the new paint reacting to the old?

So many questions... Thanks

If it wasn't for the Landy, I'd be tempted.

But, the plan is that I become so skilled and proficient at spraying the trailer & other stuff that the Landy will look as though it's just left the showroom! nuts silly

Synthetic is easier to get a good finish from the gun but it takes a while to dry and will be sucseptable to flies and dust whilst drying.
Celly dries quickly but you will need to build up several layers of 50/50 mix finishing with a thinner coat say 70/30. You are best flatting between coats to remove runs orange peel etc The more ocats you can put on the better finish you will get as you can cut it back more. If you bare metal it use an etch primer first than a good high build primer.

Thanks Phil, useful info.
I may go for synthetic to try and get the better finish. I presume that still benefits from the several coats/flatting approach off too?
