I've seen this in the Radio Times, but for some reason it's not on the ITV1 website. It sounds like an interesting programme, maybe worth recording whilst watching Fifth Gear.

"Road to Ruin: Tonight. (Widescreen) (Subtitled) (S)

Britains roads are now in such a dangerous condition, experts believe a decade of continuous work is required to mend them. Compensation payouts for injuries or vehicle damage currently rival spending on repairs. Morland Sanders investigates fears that road tax paid by motorists is disappearing down a giant pothole
"

Edit - This programme was postponed until 8:30 today (14/05), so watch it!

Morland Sanders looks into claims that Britain's roads would need a decade's continuous work to be in perfect condition. The reporter learns that more money is spent on compensation payouts for injuries or vehicle damage caused by the poor standard of motorways than is spent on fixing them. Postponed from May 4

We've got some roads in South Yorks that Hitler bombed, and they haven't been put right yet !

It's about time some of the money taken from motorists was actually used to benefit motorists.

Nice to see a S2000 The show seemed far too short, and without any face time from council / government officials.

I think you'll find that the damage was cause by the USAF B17's who thought that they were over the Alps after turning left over The Wash, instead of right.

I still blame the Luftwaffe for the road system in Reading. They didn't bomb it enough!

So they show a programme highlighting how crap our roads are and another programme condemming 4x4s in the same evening.

It strikes me that 4x4s are popular because of the state of our roads.
