Just wondering what's the best and easiest to apply car wax. The cheap stuff I've used before from auto glym was rubbish. It needed far too much effort on my part too - constantly trying to remove white swirls and streaks. Never again! What I'm after is a product that will glide on and buff up perfect in one go. Ideally it will be clear as the white dust etc drives me nuts.

I've heard of this natural carnuba wax before. Is this any good? Found the link below on PH too. Looks cheaper than Zymol. Any reccomendations?

Meguiars Hi-Tech Yellow Wax does it for me. Very easy to apply, no white dust and it gives a really deep shine that darkens the colour. Not sure if it's available in UK but their Gold Class Clear Wax is available from their UK website and that is also excellent.

I've seen this infomercial where you click this thing to your hose , spray the stuff on with water and then spray it off with water once it's dried. seemed to do a very good job too. unfortunately i can't remember what it was or how much ... so this post is completely useless to you. sorry.

I recommend 1 Grand Blitz wax, as it works very well on my black 944 and is a cheap compared to Zymol.

Roadrunner, I think you may be overdoing it with the Autoglym ! It's not hard to use, just apply a thin coat then buff with a towelling cloth after it's dried the towelling gathers up most of the white powder, the rest can be gently brushed off.

Mer (avail. in Halfords) works well, even if it does have the worst adverts ever.

Meguiars is widely available now too, haven't tried it myself but you could have a look at www.meguiars.co.uk ?

What you have found is the difference between a *polish* and a *wax*.

Polishes leave the white residue that gets everywhere - wax's don't.

To boot - waxes last much longer as you only need to apply them about once per 6 months, and you use very little to cover the car. One £40 pot of Swizol or Zymol will last about 20-30 applications, one £10 bottle of polish will last about 3-4 applications - giving the nett effect of polish being more expensive per application than the proper wax.

I use Swizol (www.swizol.com/E/GB/HomeGB.htm) and the results can be seen at www.lotus-elise.org.uk/noble/pictures.htm.

Autoglym (and most others) recommend the polish first, followed by the wax. You can then just use the wax until the paint feels rough or looks 'murky' then polish again to tidy it up and go back to the wax. If your car's very scuffed/dull it's well worth getting it buffed, then polished, then waxed (£250 ish at a bodyshop)

I'm happy with Zymol. Excellent and the wax is really easy to apply and polish off. Smells really good too.

There are plenty of us American blokes who would mail you the Zaino if you paid the shipping. Don't know how pricey that would be, but if you dig the polish...

Sorry to have to correct you joust but alot waxes DO leave a white powder.
It is not usually the wax itself but the distilates which are used to soften the carnauba wax which in its pure form is rock hard. You tend to find that "zymol" and "swissol" use natural ingrediants to remove this problem.

The biggest problem most people have is caused by using TOO much wax and therefor more effort is required to remove the excess

If you narrow it down to those two Zanio,as Zymol is too dear

I used to use Zymol i've tried some which cost neigh on £1k for a 8oz tub (no i didnt buy it) its very good but dosent last.I now use P21s which is the same as S100, goes on very easy and off very easy, quick and easy to use and very good results.

£1k a tub sounds reasonable. Not! I think smearing Beluga on your car is a little decadant..
