I feel i am alone in being the only person to despise our Jezza.

Im sure this cant be the case. I dont care what any one says:- he simply isnt funny.

Top Gear is rubbish now they dont talk about cars anymore. I dont care about Vinnie Jones. I feel this is all Jezzas doing.

Also: his articles in the driving supplement of the times. Yesterday the first 3/4 of the article was taken up with utter bollocks, with no mention of the car being reviewed.

This thread is for JC haters only. No other posts please!

Edited to please Dave

He is from Doncaster so he can't be all bad

But I do feel sometimes he makes a joke up first then applies it to a car. And he is very biased towards cars he happens to own at the time. Escort cossie, Ferrari etc.

It's true, the man and his one-liners simply aren't funny. He looks terrible and is more out-of-date than my old man.

But there is something old-school about him. He says stuff on TV which no one else would dare, and he truly doesn't give a fcuk. That's why I love the guy, in our ridiculously PC society we need Clarkson to remind us of how we should be acting, not how we are expected to.

Sorry but I like him.

Theres a line from a film (can't remember which) where the hero tells someone: 'I was wrong about you. Maybe you're not an asshole.', to which the guy replies 'Sure I'm an asshole. I'm just your kind of asshole.' Thats my attitude to Clarkson, he's my kind of asshole...upsetting the PC brigade saying things most wouldn't...like the bunny comment the other week.

McLane (Bruce Willis) to the platoon commander in Die Hard 2 (Die Harder) - sorry this was an unintentional thread hijack.

PS I think Clarkson is brilliant. So there.

I have met him and he is a bit of a nob in real life - wouldn't spit on his adoring public if they were on fire... I'm sure he only entertained a conversation with me as we had a mutual acquaintance, but he was looking down his nose at me for the first thirty seconds until this nugget was revealed. I'm sure he views everyone with suspicion as people either love him or hate him. Thing is, I reckon he hates the ones who love him as well

HOWEVER, he does write superbly funny articles about cars, even if the car content is minor.

On TV, he is an absolute tosser though. Surrounds himself with pathetic fawning rabble and his chat show was beyond abysmal. Funny because I quite like his videos when he's away from the crowds and talking cars once more...

Love/hate, I suppose. But I'm more with MrF with this.

I don't think he's brilliant, I don't give a toss if he's a nice bluerk or not, he amuses me and until someone funnier and even less PC than him appears (Mr May could be a candidate)I'll watch him.
He is a slave to fickle people like us and that's probably why he hates us

He's lost the plot, think it was about 1987 that he last saw it.

He used to write for me a very long time ago when I worked on a games computing magazine and was friendly and approachable. He even changed a wheel on my Lancia Delta when I curbed it delivering a computer to him.

Some years later he was very rude at me (more *at* me that *to* me) on the Citroen stand at a motor show, and I think fame has got to him. But I still like reading his copy. Lines like "America, land of the free, home of the stupid". Yes some of his analogies are strained but they are less so than the standard fare of the Top Gear magazine and some (Renault Avantime being the Chicken Jalfrezi of cars) are very, very good.

He is also a deep down petrolhead. He knows what a trailing arm is, and can drive.

Much more important is that he's erudite, sharp and on our side. The greens have whole armies of people prepared to pop up on Richard & Judy or five Live explaining why the M4 should have a second and third bus lane while we have no-one. There is the ABD but they don't have a decent profile within the car cognoscenti let alone in the difficult world of TV and radio.

Doing the 'soft' stuff like torching Sunnys is what gives the programme appeal to the unwashed and makes space for the stuff those of us who live and breath cars to appreciate. Stick up for him.

couldn't agree more, don't forget the programme has to cater to a wide audience and the more non petrolheads get the message the better.......look at it as a kind of advertising

Clarkson may have lost some of his charm, as he is now too far up his own ar5e.

However, he is not as much of a c*** as the short winker who co-presents. What a bell end.

edited to say... yeah, apache, maybe you're right. Bit harsh. I think I originally posted when having a bit of a 'moment'....

I think JC is generally ace and the little fella is just a bit of a twonk. sorry.

Part of Clarkson's charm for me is his 'Fk You' attitude. If he's actually a tw@t in normal conversation I'll be rather dissappointed.

Who was it that said you should never meet your heroes?

I posted on here a couple of months ago how JC wrote an article about the smart roadster and said it was rubbish even though he said he had not driven it and he wrote the article from looking at a picture and some specs.

So what happens? There he was yesterday on Top Gear going on about how much he loved the Smart Roadster even though there was all these faults. What a hypocrite!

I think the new Top Gear just puts JC on a pedestal and everything he says is supposedly right and everyone else wrong. (cool wall).

I think the best car programme on terrestrial TV is 5th gear because it's practically the old top Gear cast on a different channel.
