Just spotted registration number "A1"

Spotted it in Green Park London on a............wait for it.................black Mini Cooper S- It looked fantastic and glad it wasnt on a Phantom (or anything expensive) as it had a bigger impact.. Wonder who owns it?

As Ive posted on here before, back in the late 80s I saw that plate on a rusty Volvo 340GL driving round the M25. Bet he got a few quid for that

1A was first issued and sold at auction by DVLA in 1989 for £160k plus commision, VAT etc. Reportedly bought by someone acting for Prince Jefri of Brunei (brother fo the ruler).

This was A1- it was the first reg ever issued. Issued in 1903 to an Earl in London
