It will, in all probability, be prison. Possibly suspended given his personal circumstances and his precons. I'd like to know what the 'aggravated vehicle taking' was all about.

aggrevated vehicle taking usually refers to a stolen vehicle and the aggrevating bit means he was either driving dangerously (speed perhaps) or he hit something whilst driving causing damage to absolutely anything, even a kerb would count, but i guess it would be for the manner of driving...

...its a nice way of saying he nicked it and thrashed it in dangerous way!

IIRC they have dropped the other charges and its just speeding now.

Im sure they will make an "example" of him and the sentence will the far more sever than those handed down for offences like driving whilst drunk, "running" from the police in a stolen car etc.

The charges relating to the agrivated vehicle taking are most related to his job (now ex job!) with a car hire company. Whats the betting that the car was owned by his employer, hence the note about his resignation some days later.

He's in big trouble though, and will face jail sentence, which is quite right too in my opinion.

This was on the A420 near Abingdon. He worked for a car hire firm, took the car without permission allegedly, which might mean the company washed their hands of him - or not.

Eitherway - you come out of the 50mph zone, usually stuck behind slow cars/trucks and hit about 2.5-3 miles of dual carrigeway. Most people accelerate to above 70 there so it's a fav spot for the speedcamera boys. It's well known - so poor observation really. The coppers were on the bridge.

Still - from fighting torque we know what our cars will do from rest. I guess he floored it around the bend onto the dual carrigeway bit and kept it there.

Last guy got 5 months for 156mph. He's going to jail for certain.

Just what damn planet do the "people" from BRAKE come from and does modern journalism really need a comment from them? Nothing original ever comes from them and certainly nothing quantifiable.

The guy put his foot down, I guess on an empty strech of road (no reports of him causing an accident) and now some of you are clapping your hands that he'll go to jail?

Shame.

First I thougt that it was someone,s private car that he had "borrowed" while in for servicing, and for that they should clatter him good and proper ... but it wasn't. It was a hire car which he couldn't resist having a bit of a drive in (of course, it will never have been ragged at all by any of the people that have hired it). Still not right, but not the same as taking someone's P&J. He in effect took a company car from the car pool.

172 on a by-pass ... empty road, fast car ... scratchchin i know a few of us who would.

Not checking the road first before attempting those speeds and not spotting the police ... that was just plain stupid.

I was told anything between 100-125 was an instant ban and 125+ had the significant possibility of a 'doing a stretch'. One could argue, a questionable use of a prison service that is already overstretched. Now if someone had been killed or even injured then maybe.

When the police alleged that I was doing over 100 on the M40 a few years ago, it was the middle of the summer, about 4 in the morning and I hadn't seen another car for over half an hour. The police were hiding on top of a bridge timing people along a clear stretch of dry motorway - obviously an accident hot spot at that time of the morning. Revenue raising on a quiet night? Surely not.

Anyway, £6,000 worth of legal costs and my case got thrown out, thanks to Nick Freeman and Co thumbup

Last week there was a bloke done for indecency with kids over a 14 yr period, many of their lives ruined and he gets community service his church forgives him and he carries on. This bloke goes a bit over the speed limit and no doubt will end up in jail, what a censored up country we live in.

Bottom line is that he will probably get a more severe sentence than the low life that killed 11 Year old Rhys Jones will - assuming the Police find the killer - they are much better equipped to prosecute traffic offences.

Didn't Smokey Nagata get busted doing 190mph when he came over here with the TopSecret Supra?

the motorist always gets a kicking because the motorist heeps getting it wrong.... the motorist is an easy target because they keep ing up

here's a tip to stop "the motorist" from getting done as an easy target, don't present yourself as an easy target by speeding

Apparently the german police don't like people doing 170+ mph either.

What gets me is that he will probably go to jail for it whereas this doctor who drove the wrong way up the A420 and killed a biker gets away with community service just because she was a doctor. I dont think i would want her working on me if she cant tell which side of the road to drive on

The recall button on Mr Nagata's Stack display dropped him in it by showing 300 kmh+ when the Feds stopped him on the A1 in the Supra.

He got away with it IIRC on condition he got out of the country ASAP. Nagata not being able to speak Engrish probably helped.

Incidentally, the 100mph+ 'instant ban' thing isn't true. I was stopped for the mild indiscretion of 105 mph on a quiet dual-carriageway at night a few years back and received 6 points instead. I'd rather have taken a short ban...
