Yet another one found while looking how much I should price my MGF at. Clicked on this ZT to see why it was listed as an MGF and then E-Mailed seller to ask as to why is was so cheap:

Hello ,

Thank you for your interest in purchasing my MG.
The vehicle is in good condition, has no technical damage at all, no scratches or dents, no hidden defects, no smoking. It's fun and robust to drive. Technical inspection and emissions testing is passed and stamped as well. It has title of ownership, cleared of any obligations or fees and comes with all the documents you need to register it. The price I am looking for my car is £2,750 including the shipping costs, insurance and handling(delivery to UK).
You will not have to pay additional taxes for this (VAT reclaimable).

I have worked in UK for the last 2 years and I've purchased the car there. My company wanted me back home, so currently I'm in Italy. I've bring the car home with me.The car is now located in Italy.I decided that is better to sell it because I don `t use it anymore (the wheel is on right side and is very difficult for me to drive it here) and it `s a pitty to keep such a car and not to use it.

I realize that is a cheap price for such a car but my special situation makes me do things that I wouldn't do in normal Circumstances.I've wanted to register it here and keep it for me,unfortunately import taxes and england regulations made me change my mind. Now I am trying to sell it back too for such a low price because next week I have a deadline term for paying those taxes.I can offer you a safe deal for bought of us.Let me know if you are intrested to buy the car. Please feel free to email me with any questions you may have.

Thank you!

I am interested in your car, it seems very cheap. Is there any reason?

Kind regards,
Andy

Use the Report to Administrator button, say your coming out to Italy tomorrow with your 3 brothers and need to see the car immediately or there'll be trouble wink

Is the picture outside the Fiat garage designed to trick the foolish into thinking the car really is in Italy? If it is, its a shame all the writing on the windows is in english, and there is a UK plate Panda in the back ground.

Ask for a photo of the car infront of an italian road sign so you can be sure that this isn't a scam .... expect silence in return, or excuses that his camera is broken.

'tis funny how these scams use exactly the same format of e-mail.
They just change 'Greece' to 'Italy' etc. Does make me smile smile
You read them enough on here and start to recognise them! hehe

Oh dear that is a very poor effort at scamming with the photos taken in front of an english fiat dealership biggrin

When I bought my XJR I found it being advertised on autotrader before I'd even picked it up, that led to some interesting phone calls to the guys selling to me I can tell you!

It turned out that the scammers had copied the pictures from ebay and readvertised it with the wrong description, they had put it in as an XKR !!! Numpties.

I ccontacted them and tried to spin it out as long as possible whilst ccontacting the police (not interested) and then trading standards who did at least make some efforts to investigate but admitted they were powerless to actually do anything!

Apparently my car was in Greece, they were happy for me to place my money in a holding account, then they would ship the car (my car!) to me from Greece and if I liked it and was happy the holding company would release the funds to them!!!

Mmm.. i was so tempted, I could have had a matching pair of XJRs hehe

In respect to the cheap ads on Pistonheads, if it looks too good to be true, then it probably is a scam.

The best way I can identify them is if they only have an email address as a contact.
