Audi R8 V10 Spied

A subtle new look for the V10

Lapping the ‘ring the latest incarnation of the Audi R8 has been spotted sporting a slightly new look, along with a lovely E-sticker – presumably to stop the fire that destroyed a previous test at the green hell.

Apart from the stealth-like colour the car is un-camouflaged and you can see some noticeable differences to the standard R8. The air intakes on the side have increased and a 2 strut grille on the front bumper has replaced the 3 struts - along with 2 struts instead of 4 on the rear - allowing the air to go through the engine more efficiently. Also the exhaust configuration has changed to 2 single pipes from the dual pipes, plus to aid the stopping of the V10 the car has bigger brakes.

The R8 V10 is expected to go on sale next year with its V10 pushing out 500bhp.

Crikey. It's only just made it to the street and they're messing about with it.

erm....they're already making changes to this? smash Can we expect a stripped out, track version then to compete with the GT3 RS and Scuderia?

Or indeed seen one by the sounds of it. It looks nothing like a TT, it's HUGE in comparison.

Thumbs up for the subtle mods and matt black paint. Also, the bonnet looks all the better for having no Audi multi ring piece on it.

I was referring to the similarity of the shape. I'm sure the R8 is a much better drive, and so it should be for the price

These are stunning cars and the V8 version put in stunning lap times when tested against more powerful rivals. I've driven one and it's a fantastic, well balanced, amazing sounding, fantastic braking and general all round nice place to be.......

I've also driven a TT and you can't even compare the two......

I've seen plenty, but you can't really say Audi pushed the boat out with the design did they...

I guess that's true but no more so than about any other car in this market sector. The obvious competitor is the 911 which is an even more clumsy (and boring through familiarity) design. It's sibling in the Lamborghini stable looks much like every other recent mid engined Lambo... it seems that originality doesn't pay, at least so the manufacturers believe.

Matt black... Mmmmmmmmm!

Looks pretty good, I've not really seen enough of the R8 to pass judgement but yeah it seems a lot like a TT to me and I'm not 'that' into TT's

I owned a TT and can't see much similarity to the R8, and yes I've seen a couple around.

Mmmmmm. Will we see some cheap V8s around then? Could be very tempting.

Haven't driven either :-( but seen a few R8's around and they look stunning. They have much more of a wow factor then 911's unless you go into things like gt3 etc.

The only thing I'm unsure of is how the design will age.

The changes are subtle over the V8 but I think this one looks a lot better, especially the rear. Loving the matt black paintwork too cool
