Gran Turismo Has Got A Lot To Answer For

New Evo gets tuners working overtime

Tasty mods for the HKS Evo
Tasty mods for the HKS Evo
Despite the new Mitsubishi Evo X not being officially launched in standard form until next week’s Tokyo motor show, the chaps down at HKS couldn’t wait to get their grubby little mits on the new car and have already produced an upgrade kit.

Sadly, as no-one at PH is fluent in Japanese so we can't translate the press release, we’re stuck with attempting to compare this teaser shot with the standard car.

We reckon those tasty magnesium wheels are a great start, and the looks are helped by visibly lowering the car. Modified wing mirrors and bumpers complete the look.

Knowing HKS’ other talents, you can bet that a stainless exhaust and manifold, uprated turbo and intake, and modified ECU will also feature on this particularly good looking model too.

I don't think the wingmirrors are modified it lloks like this car is a modified rs version where unpainted plastic wingmirrors /doorhandles are used to save weight and they come with steel wheels as standard. Looks very nice though

Now that's just silly! You might as well empty the washer bottle or drive naked for the amount of weight in the paint on the door handles!

Wasn't to save weight, was just to make replacement easier as you could replace them with the cheap items off the lancer GL when you'd gone over one too many yumps smile

they're unpainted and come on shite steelies purely because there's no point in charging people for something they don't need (and will replace). it's nothing to do with saving 2g..

Same reason it comes with Steel wheels i would have thought. They are likely to be ditched upon delivery anyway.

Why don't they save themselves (and us) all the hassle and just produce the car that everyone wants in the first place.

This tuning thing is one giant money making conspiracy...

does anyone know how the evoX 'wing' is attached?

i think it'd look much better with just the lower half of the bodykit and no wing...

Bit beefier than the original, but the wheels look like they are nicked off an Impreza the wing mirrors look like they are nicked off a carisma and they could have sorted out that god awful nose, I was looking forward to the Evo X but so far have been nothing but disappointed.

I think that looks quiet nice. Compared to the new Impreza anyhow.
Waiting to see what engine upgrades are going to be available and also prices.
Wouldn't mind a new Evo X 340 or 360.

To the PH writer, can you put a link up to the original press release, the one in Japanese?

Running it through a translator it looks like the following has been changed:-

Suspension
Exhaust
ECU mapping
Wheels.

Nothing I can make out indicates any changes to the induction system.

Looks hot though!
