A high up individual in the company (my bosses, bosses boss) has walked upto my desk and taken the keys for the Lotus, he informed colleagues that he was 'just off for some fags, tell riwiho I will look after it'. I got back to my desk around 5 minutes later just intime to be informed what had happened and when I looked out the window I saw the Elise driving away.

aaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh. Its only just over a week old to me and my first Lotus.

I know I should have not left the keys for my car on my desk but I have done this for years as does everyone else in the office.

Is it your own private (ie non company) car?

If it's a company car he will be insured presumably under the company policy.

If it isn't, I'd wipe his arse with his own face. MD or not!

That, if as plain and simple as you describe it, is utterly utterly disgusting and you should, at minimum, put a report in to HR.

I would, however, suggest the police. It is, without any doubt at all, "taking without owner's consent".

Utterly disgusting and if I were you I'd be raving mad right now.

It is a private vehicle owned and insured only for myself and girlfriend.

I am just loathed by the fact its taken on the assumption that this individual is higher up than me and can therefore do what they want.

Elise is still not back

So its your private car and its been taken without consent, sounds like theft to me. Just get on the blower to the police, bonus is you know who has stolen it and have witnesses.. I am sure for a reasonable pay rise you can drop the charges ;-)

I would be going ape shite at this point. It shows a complete lack of respect, and more importantly, your boss has just stolen your car.

If you have have a Tracker fitted, get onto them and call the police.

Utterly disgusting behaviour.

Phone the police.

And ask him what gave him the right to drive your car without your permission when he does finally return.

What a .

Definately, this is disgraceful behaviour.

How the hell can someone think they have the right to take your car?

I've moved this into General Gasing for you - it's about your lotus I realise, but there's a wider audience in here and so you'll find some more equally well balanced opinions and also perhaps some alternative thoughts on what to do.

I'd string him up, personally.

Same here, it shows a complete lack of respect. You need to sort this out, before it sets a precedent of just borrowing your car.

Get off your arse and get the police in now. It out of order, its not just this incident its the position it puts you in.

Once you get it back, you need it checked for wheel alignment and damage etc etc.. plus did he rag it from cold.. he is knackering your pride and joy here while you meekly sit back and let him.

Seconded on the stringing up, I would be bouncing off the walls.

Or, popping over to his desk and picking up his keys.

Think carefully about police.

It's why I moved it into General Gassing. My first thoughts are the same, but it is a road that once you've opened up you can't return from. I'm not saying DONT, just perhaps be sure.

Needless to say, something needs to happen though.

Boss or not id give him a piece of my mind at the very least when he's back, you cant f*ckin do that and get away with it to someones prvate car for which you have no insurance! I dont even let my own family drive mine let alone my boss!

Im actually amazed he had the bottle to do that, i think a swift drop kick to his bollox should explain to him exactly how you feel!
