This is a question i've been wondering for some time now. Shell V Power, and normal unleaded fuel, so, is there actually any differance? Or am I missing something. I've just purchased a clio trophy, and it's always ran on V power. Should I carry on, or am I wasting my money?

Wasting money. Unless you REALLY need those extra 2bhp that you might get if that article in evo is correct.

You only need the high octane stuff for turbo engines where there's big compression and an elevated risk of detonation IIRC.

Yes there's a considerable difference, but I wouldn't bother running it in your clio to be honest, can't see there being much benefit.

I suppose it depends how the car has been mapped (if at all), if its mapped to run V power then keep to it. Its just higher octane as far as I know.
I am asure its better for high performance engines also.

I ran my diesel on V power diesel and noticed less smoke and slightly more MPG, but very slightly.

No boubt some experts will tell you all you need to know.

Aparently you can get 102 octane at some BP's, but i think you need to play with the ecu or summink for good effect.

I use the vpower in the grale which doesn't make the blindest bit of difference at the moment as it's off the road haha

The Clio is recommended to run on 98 octane. I've used standard stuff and premium but never noticed much of a difference. It does seem to do more to the gallon on premium though.

Tesco,s premium fuel is the only one at 99 octane and probably one of the cheapest :-)
