Also he bangs on about how brilliant the W140 S-class is for a bit.
EFA.Also he bangs on about how brilliant the W140 S-class is for a bit.
What is he doing now, anyway? Apart from this.

i was wondering that, he is quite an interesting guy he should be on tv more imo.
Mmm.IIRC he's pretty handy at turning profits on secondhand motors, and not with the help of camera trickery, free labour and "parts we had just lying around" either.
I suppose the problem is it's the kind of "interesting" minority petrolheads like, not the kind of "interesting" Celebrity Tatfest Dancing Singathon III XTreme viewers like.

Can't wait to see how bad these 'Boy Racers' are with Jason Plato in Seat Leon at the race track. There only response is Yeah when questioned about their poor driving.
Did anyone catch the website the two (founders) being interviewed was?
I thought my home town was bad with these tools flying around on there numpty mobiles! But Blackpool is bad, feel sorry for the chap and his family who was hit by these idiots

Well, watched it, but is it just me or did that seem uncomfortably short and an almost token effort. It could definitely have been made an hour long or even a series of 3 weeks shows at an hour each, eg. one on street racing, one on the plato part and then a conclusion to look into answers to the questions they were asking.
Thoughts?

It was a feature on tonight with Trevor McDonut (I think) - are they not usually succinct* pieces?

I wonder just how bad some of the videos are!? Edited by Toecutter on Tuesday 11th December 22:24
Now I'm young, and enjoy driving fast (within reason) but even I thought some of those things were stupid!
Seeing that poor guy who got injured by that car really hit home what 'could' happen.
Although watching Tiff always manages to amuse me!
I watched it and it was a bit token and lightweight unfortuately. I did like Plato trying to sum up their driving without actually using the words "You're crap" to them, but then I also had to laugh at the reactions of the lads themselves. They were all trying not to piss themselves laughing at the end because you just know they all thought "Woohoo, we got a free day driving with Plato as fast as we liked on the track!"

And yes, he does make an awful lot of money trading in classic cars. He's been unbelievably lucky over the years, managed to ride the classic boom through the eighties when prices were going through the roof (when he was at university he drove around in a Maserati Ghibli), pulled out just at the right time, escaping with his money, turned to broadcast journalism in the nineties, then got back into trading in classic cars when the prices went back up.

Sounds like a well executred plan!
To be honest though, he was in the right place at the right time - he reached driving age and was interested in cars (as opposed to new cars) in the '70s when they were cheap and tales of Jaguar XK120s for a few hundred quid were actually true, used to buy them from clueless old biddies and retired majors out in the sticks, drive them into London and flog them to rich people, and was out of university in time for the '80s price boom, when what he was doing was probably netting him six-figure sums. The likes of Nick Mason and Jay Kay aside, he is one of the luckiest people in the industry.Gassing Station | General Gassing [Archive] | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff

You don't remember the Top Gear of old then?
