One would assume stone chips but it's far too small to be really useful.

Perhaps a device to make an ugly car even uglier?

They are designed to trap rain and dirt and debry under the special nose bag, this then chaffs and rubs on the paint and when you take it off, the paint is dull and scratched and scuffed to buggery and it looks like you've done a rally every day of the winter.

Total oxymoron product, it does exactly the opposite of what it's supposed to.

To protect against stone chips, only ever looks good on black mk1/2 golfs.

I'd rather have the stone chips. Looks hideous.

That's what I've always said, some people seem to think it looks cool? confused

What's the point in having a thing to protect the paint against stone chips if you're never going to see the flippin' paint anyway because it's under the stupid covering!

Well you wouldn't want these unsupported on a typical UK road!

Exactly as everyone else has said to protect against stone chips.

Although I could never see the point in the tiny ones like shown on the Lupo.

I used to use mine when travelling on motorways, it did work aswell.

Allot of cars in Russia have these (especially toyota's) they are to stop stone chips on the leading edge of your bonnet.

I couldnt really see the point either but my Russian friends insisted that they worked, bearing in mind that Russian roads are sometimes very poor.

Also noticed a lot of cars in Canada with something similar. Apparently its to protect it from fly's, although I'm not sure what kind of hard fly's they have over there....

Interesting to see one on the Beetle, did it harm the paint? a work colleague had one on her Beetle, it shagged the paint and when she complained to the VW dealer, they said yes, they all do that, and they get a few complaints about it, didn't we warn you?

Ask the monkey who destroyed a VW Corrado on this very site (Readers Cars). It has one and it looks crap.

Bonnet Bras should lead to a minimum of 6 months in jail. With a consecutive 6 months for Lexarse lights.

Ah, the wonderful Euro style.

To keep the car looking good, you protect the paint with an item that ruins the looks of the car wobble

Did no damage at all.

I had a Colgan Bra, the inside was lined in like a felt/fur, so was quite gentle to the bodywork.

How long at a time did your colleague leave it on the car? I would imagine if left on for long periods of time in wet or very sunny weather, then it could shag the paintwork.

There is a really nice Griffith in this month's Sprint mag.
i think it really spoils the look of the car but I guess the owner will have the last laugh when it comes to not having to have that front end respray.
Isn't there a car with a bonnet bra in that film with Bruce Willis where he takes Kim Basinger out on a date and his car gets trashed with her ex trying to rip off the bonnet bra?

Why do they quite often have a couple of little stand-up flaps near the middle of them? The lupo one has them, and I have seen such items on Golfs with the same appendages.

So whilst you own it, you never get to see the car looking nice, and really its for the benefit of the next owner. Am i wrong?

Also you would think that it would help the resale not to have stone chips but then you pay x amount to buy it, therefore negating any savings.

Sounds like a crap idea.
