Well this is a difficult post to write, my classic 1976 Jaguar XJ6 has been completely destroyed by vandals who broke into my garage. They broke in through the side window of the garage by using a glass cutter after they failed to burst the window open. They trashed the contents of the garage smashing up tools equipment etc then started on the car.
Every panel of the car has been damaged either by very severe scoring, spray paint or poured paint. Side windows were smashed as was windscreen. All tyres burst via sidewalls. Paint was poured over most of the car including over engine. The interior - all leather was severely slashed with stanley knives including headcloth, centre consol, dash. Paint was also thrown inside.
Police forensic officers who attended say its about the worst vandalism case they have seen in years. They also commented that the persons involved obviously knew about cars as they have damaged every single bit of the car, not just to write it off but to ensure it's completely beyond restoration. No fingerprints or evidence was found by forensics so it looks like no one will be caught for this.

I have absolutely no idea why this has happened. I haven't had any trouble with anyone or even a harsh word. It is slightly suspicious though how this happened the one night of the month i go out - to a car club meeting.
Should you wish to see the extent of the damage pictures can be seen on my blogger here: http://myjagworld.blogspot.com/

Needless to say the car has been declared a complete loss. Point is i'll never have another one that good. I know it's maybe a daft thing to say but i really feel sorry for the old car, it's been so well looked after by all past owners for 32 years only to be destroyed like this. frown

Thats horrible, I really feel bad for you.

However I wouldn't write it off as a total loss. It can be restored, obviously for more than the car is worth, but it isn't dead yet.

Words are scant consolation, but that must be devastating.

Feel for you, the scum that did that obviously had no respect for other people property, or hard work.

Good luck finding a replacement.

WTF. I don't understand it. It's not like it's some hundred thousand pound supercar that people could call flash; it's a piece of history.

Really feel for you, why anyone would do such a thing is beyond comprehension.

what a gutting site and I know how upsetting it is having had a previous car vandalised (nowhere near to that extent)

As mentioned it sounds like you/it has been targeted, such a shame with it being an old classic that looked to be in very good condition

That makes me feel sick. I am so sorry mate cry

I can't understand the mentality - classics usually bring out the best in people, they're not seen as overly flash etc. I'm afraid this is targetted - but who on earth would hold such a grudge frown Any chance of mistaken identity?

I know there is nothing I can say but I feel your pain brother frown

Couple more thoughts - was the paint yours? If all the stuff was in the garage already maybe they were trying to pinch it and then wrecked it when they couldn't. If they brought the paint sounds like it was well and truly planned frown

Did none of the neighbours see anything?

There are those on this site who would tell you that you would be wrong to inflict severe pain on those who do this sort of thing..i am not one of them
