Vauxhall Belmont SRi Spec

Can anyone help - a friend is trying to find out the spec of his old Vauxhall Belmont SRi 1.8, and for the life of me I can't find any valid performance stats. Parkers reckons 112bhp which sounds about right, but does anyone have any further info?

Its the same as an Astra SRi but with a boot isn't it? So it'll likely have Astra performance and a little more weight over the rear.

And 9.1 seconds to 60, with max speed of 122mph?

my dad had a Belmont back in the eighties.

it was a kind of green/blue/turquiose colour, which at the time was very differerent to all the brown, red or blue cars around.

people used to stop and remark about the colour of the car!

I have just browsed the classifieds on here and the Autotrader to look at a Belmont and there are none for sale, i can't remember the last time i seen an SRi Belmont they must be getting very rare now.

There's a twin test of the mechanically similar 1.8 GLSi Belmont in Fast Lane....versus a Jetta GT

The Belmont remains the most stolen car of all time in the UK. God alone knows why, perhaps security is a weak point. As a result most ended up crashed or sucumbing to poor rust protection. However there is a mint one that never seems to go anywhere near my house.

Used to have a Belmont GLSi in white. Replaced an original Cavalier SRi in Red/Anthracite and I would have said 115bhp as it was the Cav motor, but not about to argue.

Cavalier SRi became "known" to the Bib on the M5, (local friendly trafpol clued me in), but the Belmont - though just as quick - never appeared on their "We're having him one day" list. Maybe the old game of traffic snooker ? With time to spare I'd cruise lane 1 at just over 60 - white car, white shirt - and watch as the other reps came barreling down the outside, spot the "unmarked ??" and nose-dive into the tarmac whilst studiously looking dead ahead. Silly but fun, at the time.

I usually try and list the badge-engineered models under their original names, so it would normally be listed as an Opel Kadett of some flavour. However, it seems I do not have the Kadett variant that would correspond to this Vauxhall either. Will do my best to get this fixed asap. If anyone reading this happens to have a scan of the brochure for either the Vauxhall or Opel for this model, please do me a favour and send me a copy, if it's not too much trouble. ;-)
