Merc SLC Filmed At 'Ring

Footage shows new Mercedes Gullwing testing at the Nurburgring

'You're on my foot...'
The all-new AMG supercar, the Gullwing or SLC, has been filmed lapping the Nurburgring.

The car is likely to be a direct successor to the McLaren SLR and is expected to be fitted with an AMG 6.2-litre V8 producing almost 700bhp.

As the car is still in its early stages of development it has been disguised as a Dodge Viper, but this could also give an indication that, like the SLR, it will have a long bonnet and very short boot.

Rumour has it the car will have gullwing doors like the fifties 300SL.

I thought the profile was very Viper, but the lights quite Cerbera.

Does it matter? Seeing as its neither of the two.

Pistonheads - Labelling the exact car that inspired the taped-up disgiuse on each of a test mule, matters.

rolleyes

The obvious V8 plus pulling in to the AMG garage across the road are a bit of a giveaway.

Was that a computer blipping the downshifts or the driver?

If everyone just posted accurate facts, there would be no point having a thread, or a forum for that matter.

Anyone any idea of when it's due to be launched? If it is still in early development I'd imagine not for a while yet?

I thought I caught a hint of 'auto', especially at the beginning at the top of that right hand slope.

Hopefully they'll be using their 'clutched auto' as seen in the SL facelift.

Can't see that roofline supporting gull wing doors ...... looks like it'll be tasty if they can avoid blinging it up like the current SLR
