Last Mini Cooper For Sale

The final Mini Cooper Works S could be yours for £22K

End of a legend
End of a legend
The last original Mini Cooper Works S ever built is to go on sale at auction.

The 2000 car is expected to fetch up to £22,000 at the Coys ‘Brands Hatch’ sale and it was initially sold by John Cooper himself.

At the time it was parked next to his personal Mini, the famous MY 5UN, outside the office and originally cost over £23,000.

The last 500 Coopers had a silver/grey roof panel and bonnet stripes, but this particular car had them painted on rather than being decals.

The interior is red leather and the dashboard is engine-turned aluminium.

There is a quick-shift gearbox and the fast road spec engine is protected by an alloy sump guard.

The car has just 7,000 miles on it and loads of history, including a letter signed by Mike Cooper certifying it is the last of the line.

Estimate is between £16,000 and £22,000 and the sale takes place on May 25th.

There are a few on a 51. Its model year and manufacture date are 2000 but it was registered in 2001.

I would love to own that.

Must have been held unregistered for a while, I saw an Escort Cosworth on a Y or 51 plate not long back for this reason.

Anyone know where you can see pics of the interior or what the performance spec is?

Love these. Want one as my London runaround - would need to fit air conditioning, though.

Surely the MY 5UN plate quoted in the story is not a legal plate? Or is that the story?

'Classic' Mini's are great but yikes £22k thats alot of money. But i guess it was the end of an era for a car that IMO pretty much rewrote the rulebook on motoring for normal folk back in '59

Well it looks like its going rusty now after being left in the rain.

I thought the last car was red and was held at BHM?

I sale my COOPER S SPORT but in France cheaper than this unique modele:

http://heritage.squad.free.fr/The_crew/Mr_X/Cooper...

with full additional option (only on the engine handling parts)

10 000 euro (cheaper than the UK price)

But in France, the year was 2000 and not 2001. My modele was produice in October 2000 (during the last month of production i thinks)

Could be a typo - perhaps the plate's M1 5UN...

The last mini ever produced was indeed red, this is the last ever works S produced, these were standard cars taken to john cooper garages and then converted to S works with a new cylinder head, exhaust and air filter (there may be a couple of other bits too) these upped the power to roughly 90bhp (up from 63). These cars were then sold by the garage. Alternatively you could take your standard car to them and they would convert it.

Unfortunately it's just a bit out of my price range. Would be cool to own though.
