What's the best car as your first??
Discussion
Hey Everyone!
Consirdering you have a budget of 2k including insurance, what's the best car to buy??
To start with, it's best to consider these factors; Litres, torque value, RPM value, BHP, and vehicle weight! (forget about vehicle appearance & drive type)
It's only a matter of opinion, but which one's best?

How old are you mate?
If you're 17/18 and only just passed your test I'd go for something old and cheap with a sub 1.1 litre engine. Insurance is going to kill you until you get your first years worth of no claims.
My first car (back in 1996) was a 1.1 litre Peugeot 309 GE in Cherry red...
You could go for an old Mini, they are really cool and cheap to run. You'll also learn how to look after and fettle it.
If you don't fancy that, maybe an old Ford KA or a Fiesta. Keep it standard, gain some experience, and when you've built up a year or two of No Claims Bonus, trade up to soemthing a bit bigger or quicker.
Welcome to PH by the way!

You've got plenty of time to save up!
The 206 is a good little car. I'm sure others will be along to offer different suggestions though.
If you and your brother are really into cars and don't mind getting your hands dirty, a classic such as an original Mini, a Beetle, 2CV or something like a Hillman Imp or Morris Minor could be an alternative route to go down. They should be cheaper to insure, will teach you a lot about vehicle maintenance and are pretty cool because they are different. They all require looking after though, something more modern cars don't.
Another route to go down for cheaper insurance could be a kit car, there are plenty around, they are quicker, and they will teach you about car maintenance.
Go and have a look at various cars and see what is available.
In my opinion, classics are always cooler, though I am pretty biased...

My hand's are always dirty! (dont get the wrong idea!) i do a course for mechanics and i finished work experience in ford! i value maintenance highly! i like doing work, the cars ford had were too reliable, i felt boredom most of the time! my brother already has experience, only in driving! he drives my dad's BMW! thats why i think about cars!..
