Your Road Rage Moments
Discussion
Had a really stupid road rage moment today. Was driving along in moving traffic, when a van pulled in front of me out of nowhere, causing me to brake hard and swerve to the left so that I didnt hit it. I hit the horn really hard, and pulled up alongside the van on the left, swore at them and gave them the finger...
I then looked in the van and then thought oh s
t, that wasn't a very smart thing to do. The van was full of 3 burly blokes and they didn't look best pleased at what i'd just done. I got this weird feeling that something was going to kick off - If something did, i'm sure I could have got a punch or two in, but there was only one of me, and they hardly looked like the reasonable type - if you know the rough parts of london you'll know what kind of character i mean. They were in the wrong clearly, but i'm sure i'd have got far trying to remind them of that whilst getting my head kicked in!Anyway, nothing actually happened, but it was a stupid road rage moment on my part. I should have horn'd at them and just let it go..
You got any stupid road rage moments?
I had one recently as a passenger.
Got picked up to go to a bar by a friend of mine (female), who is timid at the best of times. This s
tty Astra from 1900 comes down the road (hill, we have right of way) to fast and stops, we wait for him to back up, then the guy revs, mounts the curb, I see a 80's Vauxhall Astra with L plates with a bunch of 16 year olds in the car hurling abuse, driver gets worried and with a clear road ahead so she drives away, the car follows for 2 miles flashing ... so rather than getting angry, I call two mates in the police who were on duty to put a call out to look for it ... later found out the car actually lives down my road, but now only a 40+ year old drives it ... who ever it was before must have been shot by said parents
That said, if I do recognise the driver , I don't care how wannabe gangster from middle class Kent they are, I will have a word.

When I was younger I had some road rage moments which now I am ashamed of now to be honest. I`ve been the tit who gets out of the car at lights and once had a pop at a bloke in Leeds city centre who proceeded to chase me in the car round Leeds - I was living in Nottingham at the time but just drove round in my company Mondeo at it`s limit getting more and more lost.
I`m pleased to say I am the complete opposite now, it takes a lot for me to even flick a "V" at someone now.

Had a Range Rover Sport pull out on me at a round about making me perform an emergency stop. Queue me giving them the obligatory blast from the horn. They slow down and then stop, I can't turn round or go past because theres a traffic island in the way. Big burly Samoan looking bloke jumps out the car and walks towards me and starts shouting that he's gonna "rip my f**king head off". He stood there and shouted for another 10 seconds or so then got back in his car and drove off.
I've learnt my lesson now, I let gangster type cars do whatever the hell they want with no complaints from me
Jokes on him though, my head is still attached! Alex 1 Moron 0.

Couple of days ago i ran out of petrol a few miles from home, walked back to get a fuel can and cycled to my car. On my way i had to go through a s
thole part of town. Approaching a traffic island there is a chav bloke with his pushchair and 3 kids on foot, he is half way accross the road but rather than wait for me to go past he walked out straight infront of me (in that chav way that we are all familiar with) forcing me to brake hard. I called him a bellend and cycled off.
Thing is though how dare he do that, how the hell did he know that i wasnt a psycho? I could have been let out of prison that morning for GBH for all he knew but he did it anyway. If i wasnt an upstanding member of the community with everything to lose i would have happily smashed his face in right there infront of his kids. One day somebody will if he carrys on like that.

Used to get very uppity at the stupidity of some drivers but just dont bother now, its not worth it.
Better to let let the wnakers by and let em go have their inevitable cretinistic induced collision on their own someplace.
It feels quite good at the time to rage into someone who really deserves it, i had a physical altercation a long time back with an idiot tailgating me, but its afterwards that you think to yourself; " did i really just do what i think i did?".
Part of you feels actually rather ashamed that you let this prick get under your skin to the degree that it gets into a rather one sided physical confrontation, leastways thats how i felt afterwards.
Mind you the prat was asking for it....

I very rarely beep at people, people make mistakes, I occasionally make mistakes, so i let little things slide, you can normally read into what people are going to do and make sure it doesnt affect you anyway.
Only thing that winds me up is people sitting on my bumper, when theres ample room to come round me, who get fog lights, hazards, braking to a low speed, screen wash, and shouting if they persist for more than around 30seconds.
I came up to a junction the other day though, going to turn right, this junctions a t
t at the best of times, always hard to get out of, bint in a soap box trundling up the road, nothing on the side i want to pull onto, great, out i go, and i get a blast of the horn, when theres a good 50 meters between me and her, bearing in mind shes traveling at around 20mph, my windows already open, so i yell "f
k off!" much to the amusement of a bloke on the pavement.
I generally wont react though, not worth any hassle.

The only time that I truly lost it with someone on the road was when a Jag driver undertook me in heavy city traffic. He was originally behind me; he pulled into a gap on the left, accelerated hard and then cut right in front of me, only to jam his brakes on hard and indicate to turn right into a side street
It must've been the sheer cheek of it that got to me (because I'm normally quite passive, mainly because I'm not very big), because I waited for a gap in the traffic and then pulled alongside and went completely apesh*t with him.
Strange how being in a car can change our personalities, I've never felt like that before or since that incident, but for those 30 seconds I was fully prepared to put the guy in a wheelchair. It was actually a strangely liberating moment.

I'm sure I've told this story a few times before.....Many years ago, I was cut up on the one-way system in Derby. I flashed my lights and blew horn etc at the driver of the car who had cut me up - I was furious!
100 yards ahead, there were red traffic lights - both cars stopped, so I got out of my car, stomped to the car that had cut me up, and stood at the drivers door (they refused to wind down the window) and I ranted, raved, and made a huge performance.
The lights changed, and he drove off.
I stomped back to my car, still in a foul mood, opened the door, climbed in, and slammed the door shut.
It was at that point, I realised that I was sat in the rear passenger seat of my Astra estate..... so I got out again, took a bow to the massed laughing crowd on the pavement who had just witnessed my ranting performance, got in the drivers seat, and drove off rather sheepishly.......
I've never had one in a car but happened twice when on my motor bikes (about 15 years ago).
First one was as I was just getting onto the Parramatta Tollway (Sydney) when a guy merged from the left without looking and put me onto the right hand side hard shoulder/grass at around 60mph. Bike was bumping around but somehow stayed upright (I was just hanging on so nothing to do with me).
I lost my head big time, pulled in behind and started flashing him and making gestures. He'd been so close to killing me that it put me in a rage. He saw me and pulled into the left lane, slowing right down so I came along side and started waving my fist. Anyhow the toll gates were coming up so I backed off and followed him, then just before he went in I cut in front of him, stopped and got off and walked to his driver side door where I started to kick and punch his car. He just sat looking at me all pale faced. After calling him every name under the sun I stormed back to my bike and rode the 5metres up to the toll. The lady in booth said to me "Did the silly b
d almost kill you love? We see it all the time here"
I was none pleased!
Second time was when three blokes in a Holden, in heavy traffic, merged into my lane (I was in the left lane) without seeing me. Somehow I hit the feeble horn (which is weird cos I don't think I'd ever used it before) but they kept on coming and sandwiched me into the kerb, then they saw me and stopped so I was right alongside the rear passenger window. Anyhow I lost my rag again and started calling them names. The front passenger went to get out, I presume to 'sort me out' as he was looking pretty mad but I just started kicking him and the car with my right leg (which was kinda sandwiched inbetween the car and the bike) while calling him a C.nt etc.. He quickly got back in they floored it through a red light ahead and swung left. There was heaps of cars hitting the horn at them. I dunno why but I didn't give chase. Later I had a look at the damage but it was just the lower fairing damaged. But I did kick the Sh$te out of his car and slammed a good dent in the roof.
I get fired up just thinking about it now!

Rather than road rage, if drivers try to annoy me I find ways of winding them up further.
1. Overly exaggerate yawning whilst they are trying their best to upset you. I normally follow this up by smiling.
2. If they are male, blow kisses at them and make daft jesters like the loser one.
3. Hold them up by blocking access to their road, driving really slowly etc.
I used to get really involved in road rage but then I realized, it's just playing into their hands and if you allow yourself to get really angry it just ends up wrecking your day. So my technique is too cause them the maximum amount of upset/anger so their day is wrecked. I do realize this is a dangerous thing to do but I'm fairly confident I can evade most situations and not only that, the majority of people who try road rage only do it from the safety of their car and wouldn't dare face to face.
I seem to encounter a lot of women who try it and I have to say I find this really funny.

Good man, teach those females a thing or two, dare they get out of the car I'm sure you could give them a right good shoeing in the ovaries if they even opened their mouth. I must admit, I've never tried the roadblock technique, I've always found that if someone was tailgating me with the intention of getting past, leaving a lane clear was the cowards path, but then again, if there's a chance that the driver has just left the gym, having just come back from a tour of Iraq, and finding out his wife has left him, then I would relish the opportunity to "hold them up, driving really slowly etc." so that not only I would get to my destination later than planned, but when I am inevitably stopped in traffic or at traffic lights, that horrible menace who beeped and flashed me will get out of their car and satisfyingly reach the interior through means of a clenched fist through the closed (double glazed) window, which opens only to grasp my throat and introduce my forehead to the steering wheel rim and rear view in a rhythmic fashion, one could almost imagine the throttler to be John Bonham hammering out Moby Dick in the 21st Century, if they don't look annoyed I slur words of insult about their family.
Indeed, I always try to find a way of winding them up further, forget about my destination.
