Scratches - any ideas?
Discussion
Chaps,
This is a great start to the weekend.
On Sunday, I washed and waxed my car. Since then, its been no where, just parked out the front of my house.
I come to use it this morning, and its got a very dusty boot. I take a closer look, and there is literally hundreds of tiny scratches all over it.
You know the scratches you'd get if your missus put her bag on it? Like that, but hundreds of them! Any ideas what it could be?
I couldnt help but notice the neighbour is having some work done and there was some bags of sand delivered this week. Surely, the delivery driver wasnt pea-brained enough to drop the sand on the boot en-route?
If he did, how do you prove it? Call the police, report criminal damage and get a sample of the 'dust' taken?
I'd be lest annoyed if someone nicked the car and stripped it - this is just careless (at best) or small minded jealousy which they will never get caught for!
Aaarrgghh!!!
So, report it or suck it up?
I'm off to t-cut it...

I've taken photo's and will post them over the weekend.
They're definately scratches - I washed/waxed the car recently and these are scratches in the lauqer. The sand I found on the boot was def. enough to say it was the sand bags that causes the damage and the lines are in such random orders that they were caused by something being put on/removed from the car (it does has some swirl marks from washing and these are not like that).
I waxed the car again and its made it look better. I will ask a mate to buff it. Regardless of the outcome, it stuns me that someone, no matter how drunk or how stupid, thinks its acceptable to cause that amount of damage to a car.

Why the hell would the builder working next door, carry a bag or two of sand from the site into your front garden, then put it on your boot, then take it off and walk back next door?
Sure you didn't drop the sponge / cloth?
I'm absolutely positive I didnt drop a sponge. If I can get the pic's down loaded, you'd see what I mean. If you wash your car, as I do, you'd know the difference between some swirl marks and 2-300 random scratches of 1-4cm's long Sure you didn't drop the sponge / cloth?

Its on street parking here and my car happened to be parked outside the house where the building work is being done and where there was a dozen or so bags of sand delivered that day.
I can only speculate as to what has happened, I dont know why anyone would put anything on the boot of someone elses car, especially when it is doubtless going to cause damage (...and leave lots of sand there too). My considered guess is that it was the drunk lads that wandered down the street messing about. Any sensible or sober person wouldnt do it and on reflection I doubt a builder/delivery driver would really be so blatantly careless.
My problem is I wouldnt do it, even if very drunk, so cant understand why someone else would do it.
