Hiring an old Mustang etc in LA - Anyone done it?

Off to LA in Sept, and amongest doing the usual sites, I fancy having a go in some V8 muscle. Anyone care to share thier experiences of doing so in LA?

From what I've heard from friends who've tried to do the same you'll book the Mustang and then arrive to find a Chrysler Sebring or similar, then notice the little * next to the Mustang on the listing and realise it says *or equivalent at the bottom.

Do you mean and OLD Mustang, or just a Mustang?

My experience (in Canada) with Hertz was the same - Hired a new Mustang Convertible (normally a V6) only to be told it would be a Seibring. Put my foot down and got a Mustang GT coupe (v8).

It made a great noise, but that was it. Averaged no more than 20mg - even cruising at 60, and handled like a turd.
