....a car I've wanted for a long while. I've been saving for a good time now and with the current state of the car market, I think now is the time to take the plunge and buy myself an E36 323 coupe. Being a student I would love to avoid any major, unexpected bills. I am of course fully prepared for expected costs but I want to cover myself and buy the best I can find in my budget.
I've found a car in Kent and want to go for a look. This example is an N reg with 90k on the clock, an immaculate interior and an exterior in good nick. However mechanically I'm no expert. ATM I can check for basic issues but would appreciate a bit of advice on more in-depth issues to look out for. I’m confident in these cars and know they can do mega miles if cared for and this car has a good amount of service history (mostly BMW main dealer). It was been booked in for every inspection on time with consistent distances covered between each, although its second service was booked in after 1 year and 8 months/27,000 miles which concerned me slightly.
I've only owned the one car so the whole buying experience is new to me and I intend not to spend on another car for a couple of years after this one.

Pop along to one of the BMW forums. I bought a 320i for £1200 - 84,000 genuine miles, good nick. Prepare for rust on the wheel arches at that age.I've found a car in Kent and want to go for a look. So, you are worried about a service that happened 10 years ago?
Buy on condition. For the money they are going I'd take a punt. Strong cars overall.
