For my 30th I am thinking of hiring a car out of my normal reach for the day...can anyone point me to where best to hire one?
ideally without a 100 mile restriction on 2-300 would be fine (if poss)

Bad idea.

Have an accident, wave goodbye to £10,000.

The M3 you have is a lovely car too, is there any need?

Personally i'd spend the £300 on a hooker and two shots of King Henry Remy III Cognac, or perhaps a trackday, or even a nice hotel with the missus for a long weekend?

Used blue chip car hire in the past. Seemed fair but as people have pointed out, the excess is huge

You will spend the time driving around constantly paranoid that a fly will dent the bonnet and leave you with a bill that will require you to sell your family to medicine

However, having the chance to take a gallardo spyder through a tunnel easily helps you get over this

Oh, but given the credit crisis, make sure you have the deposit in cash, as the credit card bill will haunt you for life
