Bond Declines Free Aston

Where would I park it? Asks Craig.

It's nice enough, but no thanks
It's nice enough, but no thanks
Bond star Daniel Craig won’t be driving an Aston Martin as a personal car, claiming there’s nowhere in London he could park it.

The actor reckons it doesn’t make sense to drive an Aston in London – which seems rather a churlish excuse considering Aston has reportedly given him a set of keys to its toy cupboard.

Apparently the star has been given a lifetime pass to drive any of the Aston model range any time that he pleases, an offer which even extends to track time at the company’s UK test facility.

“I could drive faster and more furiously on the track than anywhere on the road. I live in London and it doesn’t make sense to drive an Aston Martin there. I’ve nowhere to park it”, Craig recently told reporters.

Has our Mr Bond lost his mojo, we wonder?

In light of Mr Craigs comments, the next 007 film is to feature a Smart Car/G-Wiz...

May I be the first to say "I'll have it if you don't want it"?

Only at the weekends? with the money he must have he would not need to work so could be there everyday.

I can see where he's coming from.

I've never been able to fathom people who choose to drive pricey cars in stop start traffic.

In fairness, do you think Tom Sellek had a 308 for the road, Burt Reynolds a trans am, Mr T a big black van.

All he's done is state that living in London, an aston isn't ideal - which its not. He'd also look a bit of a tool playing bond 24/7 ... maybe he'd like to play other roles after bond.

I'd drive a Diablo in London if I could afford to, even if it was solid traffic, but this is a good point, well made.

IIRC he can't drive a manual anyway, so I guess he's hardly the world's biggest car nut...

Thats probably why they've said it to him knowing he'll never take them up on the offer

Wonder if he would donate the keys to their toy cupboard to PH?

You could run a text competition to allow us a chance to win it. hehe

He lives around the corner from me.. Plenty of private garages to park in so he's either really not that bothered or too tight to fork out £200 a month for a parking space...

I can understand it, he would probably love to drive one around but he knows that he would look a total t**t driving around in one. People would think the role had gone to his head.

He'd look like he was starting to believe he WAS Bond if he drove an Aston all the time and he probably knows this.

Supposedly that was false information.
