Took the wheels off today to change the pads. when I saw how dirty and old everything in the arches was, I was suddenly overcome by this very strong desire to repaint the calipers, shot peen the uprights, replace all of the suspension with brand new parts and/or get everything re-powder coated to get it looking brand spanking new again

is this some sort of illness... or have other humans felt the same things before ?

Sounds normal to me. I hope you spent two full days cleaning the inside of the wheels.

Get yourself over to the bodywork & detailing section of this forum. You are not alone.

Just be careful not to stand still too long or they will polish you!

Many of us keep both the top and underside of our cars clean....some of us even clean the engine for summer shows etc. Its not an illness and keeping your car clean increases its resale value and nothing beats a well maintained car.

Blimey.

There are some dark corners to this site that I never knew existed.

Did you do it there and then though or did you just think about it? If you couldn't leave the car till you had done all the tasks then its a bit OCD but if you just wanted to its a fairly common trait.
