I've shamelessly stolen this from another forum that I visit. Its quite apt for this site also.

Did you or didn't you crash your first car? After all young and inexperienced drivers seem to have a lot of blame laid at their doors.

So then stories including all graphic details and photographs will be greatly appreciated.

Dad widened the drive after I reversed the Cortina (front NS) into the gate-post. Mother had been complaining for some years that there really wasn't much clearance, but clearly her opinion wasn't good enough...

Yep, was a mini pickup, lost it going round a corner and ended up on the pavement on the otherside of the road. happily, it wasnt damaged, and noone was on the path at the time, so no injuries to worry about for me!

Depends if we're talking write off or just damage?

I broke the hand brake (didn't matter as it was slushomatic) and dented a wheel arch but my Dad was driving when the cambelt snapped!

ETA not even sure if the arch was me tbh, and the hand brake hardly worked before I went all Ari V on it so let the record note I voted no

technically yes - some clown decided to jump the junction and he shunted me towards a line of parked cars

I reversed at low speed into a car whilst parking - he was partially to blame being on the wrong side of the road whilst trying to park also. Anyway I took the blame for that one...

Wrote off my dad's Renault 18 when I was 15. -Accelerator/steering/brake>>gatepost confusion.

But most of the damage to my early cars was, 'internal'.

I had a renault 5 campus as my first car which (due to the rear tyres being pressured to 42 psi and the front to 18, so as to aid lift-off oversteer antics) went backwards in to a field within about 6 weeks of ownership hehe no damage though and I drove it about for 3 further months so not sure if that counts as a crash biggrin

Three times.

One my fault, one not my fault and one unfortunate incident with (not so) black ice.

Yes.

Driving up Glyn-Neath bank (A465 from Swansea to Merthyr) on winter morning.

There was a bit of snow and ice about, but the road, being a major dual carriageway, had been gritted. Well, mostly gritted anyway.

Did the run from Swansea to the sign for Rhondda Cynon Taff council without issues - plenty of grip and wasn't pushing on too much. Around 60-65mph.

As we passed the sign, I pulled out to overtake a truck and found out that RCT council hadn't gritted their bit of the road.

The drag from the truck pulled the nose of the car in towards the front wheels of the truck, so I travelled along for around 100m looking at the truck wheel through my front window, applying opposite lock. The car then regained grip and snapped the other way. The rest was a blur, until I slammed sideways into the central armco at around 50mph.

Dented every panel down the side of my car, but, remarkably, didn't damage the wheels, tyres or suspension.

After a cigarette to calm down, I continued into work - it was only when I got there I realised the extent of the damage!

Rolled an original mini on Halloween 1994, I was being responsible big brother collecting my sister from a party and rolled the car along a hedge, was I think under a month after passing my test. So fit the stereo type perfectly, Young male, recently passed test, at night with teenage passenger.

Land Rover SIII. Took out a dry stone wall . A bit of rubber malleting + coach paint later and you could hardly notice the damage.

First car - mini - clipped a kerb but no damage, bit quick in the local lanes and just avoided sticking it in a ditch....
Next car - marina saloon - steep learning curve. Bumped a corsa in MK, then got it written off by a wayward Audi coupe sideswiping me. Finished the car off turning right at traffic lights not realising the green was for both directions and not right filter. Post office sherpa nearly took the engine out!
Thankfully my awareness improved and no major incidents in the following 19 years of driving!

Yup. Dead tired, driving home after dropping a mate off on roads I didn't know. Missed the sign for the junction as I may have been going a bit too fast. No lights at the junction, by the time I noticed it was too late and had driven out into the path of some sort of Espace/Picasso thing. The fire brigade were amazed anyone survived. Didn't get any pics but the dash was on the passenger seat (luckily no one was in it), the door was popper out, the roof and floor were popped up and it was the first time I've seen a 200sx with the engine mounted sideways.
I remember thinking to myself "you fking idiot, that was all your fault, now this guy is going to want to fight you" so I got out ready to start swinging and he was dead nice, as was his step son.
There was a house near the junction and the owner said there are quite often crashes there due to poor visibility, still, it was very much my fault.
