The Infamous "snake oil" thread

Another forum which i frequent (yeah i know.... burn him, burn him etc etc) is discussing the merits of a certain type of additive that is said to "restore engines"

does anyone know of a link to a copy of the full thread that was eventually pulled from Pistonheads?

If its the decoking additive then it can restore engines... assuming the coke isn't holding the engine together which is might be

Why was it pulled?

Because the vendor of said snake oil got upset that his LDV van was ste and that we pulled apart all his witterings about the miraculous properties of said snake oil.

Was this snake oil recommended by a well known balding journalist?

...and NASA (well known for their research into internal combustion engines) and as used in some Le Mans winning Porsche (equally well know for racing on duff engine)

Hey Guy,

I was goign to PM you for a copy of the report, BUT i was hoping to get the whole thing to post to another forum as there are a couple of new members who "swear" that it works and that they were personally told by nasa that it works

sounds like trolls to me, but it would be nice to put some facts and comedy out there!
