Legacy? Don't know how much the fast ones are, but I'm guessing a mid 90's one is within budget.

Mitsubishi Legnum VR4 2.5 TT V6 260-280bhp, I'm currently running about in this tiptronic one driving

Nissan Stagea RS4 260bhp 2.5T (Skyline Estate) one I sold a few months back

Both could be within Budget, I'm picking up an RS4 *DAYZ version* on Monday that will be up for grabs biggrin

Again, a bit over budget but plenty of deals to be done out there at the moment.

I'm quite a fan of Legacies, not sure what your budget would get over there but heres mine, 276bhp/343Nm (280Nm from 2000rpm), very quick point to point wagon.

Alfa 156 Sportwagon should be in budget now, maybe even the V6!

Easily in budget. I wouldn't expect to get very much if we sold ours.

Edit: Wouldn't call it "fast though". Amusingly swift in a straight line, and sounds great, but not fast.

Another one for the 156 sport wagon.

5 series not a 3 series - far better car for the money and you can actually put something in the boot.

T5

V6 mondeo drive well.

No No No, none of the above, get an original Audi S6 for well under £2K in good nick.

Strong reliable cars that will do intergalactic mileages with no problems, engine is 230bhp standard and can be chipped to 280bhp no problems.

Also sounds great, looks discreet, massive inside, Quattro 4WD, and a badge with heritage.

Don't get me wong I love Legnums/Legacy's/Stagea's/850's but the Audi is the one to go for.

Would be an understatement of monumental proportions, ones of the most asthmatic cars I have ever driven, you'd think there was a 2hp 12v hoover under the bonnet hehe

How about an ST200 estate. Mine goes very nicely and they are very cheap to buy at the moment, infact you could probably get two of them for 2K

On SELOC at the moment is the following:

Renault Laguna Sportwagon.
Cream leather.
Petrol V6.
2004.
50k miles.
HPI clear.
FRSH.

£2.5k

Ok so lagunas aren't instant PH bets but at that spec and mileage, I reckon it'd be worth a punt!

The T5 is a good choice.

How about a Mercedes W124 300 TE-24?
