Is it just me or are all the cars they make on this series sheds. I saw them make a car for Martin Kemp and he seemed to like it or was he just being polite because frankly it looked like a crock.
I,ve no doubt that there is some talent in this garage but I'm not sure where.

Not only do they look bad, but I wouldn't like to be in a shunt in one after some of the cut/shut antics they get up to.

Basically, overly stylish banger racer types IMO.

speaking as a mechanic, most of the things they do are very very worrying....

Agreed no match compared to that Overhaulin' program, their work is top notch!

When the original series was in India - it worked. It was amazing what Leepu(?) could do with crap.
But now? The series is running a slow death.

Can't imagine these cars are actually used!!

Jools Holland's Jet 1 in this weeks was brilliant. They took the body off the chassis, sliced off the roof, then leapt back in amazement when it bent in the middle.
A guy fabricates a new transmission tunnel then finds the transmission doesn't actually fit, so they take a great chunk out of a structural crossmember to lower the prop-shaft so it will fit.
They graft on the suspension of a much more modern (ie WIDER) Jaguar then are amazed that it's too wide for the body.
Has anybody noticed that they always go from a very rough looking body with all kinds of bodges in one scene to a lovely (relativley speaking) smooth-looking glossy car in the next without showing any of the preparation; they must use tons of body filler!
And the scene with Spen King saying basically that it was sacrilege was a killer.
I wonder if any of those Celebs have watched the programme since picking up their cars; they might be having second thoughts when they see what went on during the build.

All the cars are SVA'd.

I quite like the programme. TBH a lot of the cars are abominations, and why-oh-why don't they stick decent engines in? But some look really well done, whilst not my cup of tea, but the JET 1 was fantastic.

I tried to watch it, but I got sick of hearing the words

"Like a sumo stance"

"It's like a tiger stance"

Waste of money, time and effort!

It is shocking how in virtually every episode they lower the car by hitting the springs with an angle grinder. That must save them like £100!!1 And all it costs is the safety of everybody who steps on board. Look at the Saab episode where they go to Santa Pod and the springs fall out smile

What, so you're saying that Laurence Dallaglio, a famous rugby player with no shortage of money or expensive cars, wouldn't be impressed with a cut and shut Ford Capri?? hehe

As has been said, it was impressive in Bangladesh with no tools or equipment. In England, 180 bhp in a 17 tonne abortion of a Capri is not 'bags of powah!!'

FFS! The cars look twice as good before those two pricks get their hands on them!!

what amused me with the Jet1 car was the wheels sticking out of the arches, so they bought narrower wheels.. which still stuck out of the arches. It didn't occur to them to buy something with a different offset so they wouldn't have to use a shockingly narrow wheel or extend those arches. Morons.

Its usual tv bullst. Z list celebs who need all the coverage they can get agree to go on a st show with two over the top characters and qho knock together some old banger. Same crisis and arguements every show.

Why do they insist on cutting suspension spring all the time? Surely this along with all the other cowboy tricks they pull is the wrong message to be sending to people who could be influenced by this sort of programme?

I'd flicked through the channels and came to rest just as they dropped it off the transporter. Then the springs fell out. The very moment he started cutting them with the angle grinder I started to flick again.

It's a very poor, backyard copy of Overhauling.

it made me laugh in the first london show, when he couldn't bend the steel sheet they had bought, and found it really hard to find any steel of suitable st quality that could be formed by hand - then spent the rest of the episode hand forming steel to replace the crumple zones they had cut out of a 3-series.....great, that'll stand up well in a crash!

numpties - I wouldn't go for a drive in one of those engineering abominations if you paid me.

6 inch wheels spacers etc! - how long will the wheel bearings last?!?!?!

Funnily enough, at Santa Pod while doing the Saab piece they argued like mad on camera. As soon as they stopped rolling, all sweetness and light again.

It is a set up TV programme, as per American Hotrod. Garage created for the programme, scipted etc.

The designs are pretty awful, and some of the bodges quite scary.

I do find myself watching it though regardless how crap it is, much like Wheeler Dealers....
