On a full tank of petrol, how far do you get?

I'm running a 2.0lt Vectra SRI (B Shape), to fill it costs £55 and if I do no more than 60 mph I get 400 miles out of a tank. How many miles do you get out of your PETROL engines and what car is it?

E39 523i Touring Auto - I can get 400 miles from a £65 fill-up if I take it steady, 450 if I take it **really** steady, on a long motorway run.

I've always found this kind of thing rather pointless as it depends on the size of the tank... or am I missing something?

I've never been brave enough, but theoretically from the lowest point I've let it get to I should see 600 miles

Going by my best mpg 640. Going by average 400. Costs £82 to fill up.

Roughly 250 miles on £80, best would be 300 miles worst 180. Range rover 4.4

110 litre tank, i think i get about 450 odd miles on a full tank

TDV8 Range Rover, costs about £120 to fill.

I regularly drive to Germany in my Audi A4 2.0 TDI and can do Calais to Berlin (approx. 600 miles) on one tank of diesel, at an average crusing speed of 100-110 leptons.

Depends on driving, never actually bothered to brim the tank yet, last time I tried it took £70+ (around 75 litres at the time) off me and that was all the money I had on me at the time And it wasnt far from full, and it wasnt completely empty when I started, around 80miles left.

Get 38mpg average, so probably around 650miles without trying. Uncongested motorways and D roads and 45mpg is average, so nearer 750 possible.

Its only a 1.6 Megane, cant see why it needs a tank this size.

220 miles, sensible driving to £40ish (full tank) in Evo 7. Obviously, any enthusiastic driving cuts that significantly.

70 litre tank, 430 miles on a good day, 300 when stuck in the capital for a whole tank.

I have an interesting comparison between two of my cars.

1999 E39 BMW 528i Auto. 70 litre tank about £64 to fill up at current prices.

Least I got was 330 around town. The most I got was 415 80% of that was 60-70 mph motorway miles, the rest around town. Saying that even after 420 miles when I filled up it would only take 67 litres. fuel light seems to come on with 6-8 litres remaining.

25-27 mpg around town once its warm, 36-40 on motorway, yes I have seen 40 mpg now ( no more than 60 mph), which makes me very happy Only does about 22 mpg on town trips less than 5 miles or so. Overall MPG average of around 27 in my 3 weeks of ownership, so it might get better.

My old car

Peugeot 306 1.4

60 litre tank, pretty hefty for a small car.

400-450 miles range with the same mix of driving as my current car

27-30 mpg around town, 40 on motorway. Something must have been broken becuase it should have been better than this, we couldn't find out what it was.

My savings by having a car with half the engine size were minimal, I'm talking of less than £300 a year over 6000 miles, but as I say, the Pug should have been better than that.

In my 1.3 Escort I get about 250 miles from £20 worth of unleaded.
In my 2.9 4x4 Sierra I get about 200 miles from £20.
In my 1.6 XR2 I get about 200 miles from £20.
In my 1.3 Smart ForFour I get about 500 from a full tank which is about £40.
In my 4.2 RR Sport I get about 180 miles from £100 of Super Unleaded.

All roughly, from last time I checked.
