Sums it up really, other than his brakes which where a joke.
That really is sad though, poor little nippers, i cant imagine what the emergency services where greeted with when they arrived, i know they are trained and know what to expect but comething like that is going to haunt you.

Mr Spencer said the drivers of the vehicles had seen the Land Rover speed past them just before the fateful crash.
Mr Spencer said the calliper on the offside front brake was bigger than the one on the nearside front brake and this caused the car to slew when the driver hit the brakes
He continued: "A number of the modifications were ill-judged, many were incompetently carried out and he also failed to carry out a number of repairs. All of that rendered this vehicle dangerous and unroadworthy.

Whatever he did his children died and he has to live with it. However, they died because he crshed into a river and they drowned, not because something fell off the car, they were all just very very unlucky. I'm sure the press etc could build a case against most of us given enough time. We don't know the details and maybe we shouldn't be too judgmental.
Well, mods aside, it wouldn't have passed any current MOT so that is where the fault is in my view, for the road worthiness concerns at least.
You can have a perfectly maintained standard car with a good MOT get a sticky caliper and result in variable pulling when braking hard, so I'd ignore the mods at all personally. He was driving badly, and had failed to correct a clearly evident undesireable handling trait.

I usually agree with that thinking, but driving a car full of kids with mismatched brakes is asking for trouble. Overtaking (read driving fast) really is completely irresponsible.I am sure the guy now has a lot of regrets and will carry this with him always, but it doesn't change the fact 4 innocent kiddies paid with their lives due to someone elses negligence. Absolute tradgedy for everyone concerned.

I dont think the guy deserves any punishment handed out from the courts. Hes paid enough of a price. Really struggle to even begin to think about the guilt that guy will live with for the rest of his life.

That's a hell of a school boy error. Why shouldn't the guy face prison?
If it were a chavvy kid in a snotty Saxo that had wiped out 4 of his mates, he'd have to live with the guilt.
He'd also (quite rightly) go to prison. And would be hung, drawn and quartered by most of PH.
