Ford Kuga - rare as rocking horse poo.... but nice...

I'd never heard of it, certainly never seen one. Wasn't exactly launched with a fanfare - I normally get to hear about new car launches but this one completely passed me by. Why 'Kuga' - pronounced 'Cougar' when you've recently had a 'Cougar' in the range is beyond me.
Anyhoo - my brother has been out a bought himself one, largely due to the imminent arrival of his first sprog (apparently A4 convertibles are not 'good for baby'?), and it's really very nice, quite good looking - much better looking than an X3 for example - roomy, comfortable, stylish interior. I like it, though I'm not much of a Ford fan.
So I've seen one, but despite making a point of looking out for them, I haven't seen a single other one on the roads. Weird - very rare - and according to my bro, quite a headturner because noone else seems to have seen one before either!

Agree with you though, they are very good looking. Had a nose about at the local dealership. Still not seen one on the roads, inc daily M4 corridor commute.
Although regarding the launch, they had that most ridiculous ad which seemed to run forever - I think it's still being shown!

I agree. I tried the CRV, RAV4, Tiguan and the Kuga. I found the Kuga to be the nicest of them in many ways. Didn't buy any of them in the end, but it would have been the Kuga, the only trouble was I was looking for something with the first hit of depreciation off it and the Kuga was just relased then. I will take another look at them in a years time.
Ford can't get rid of them, I've got one......they were offering them to Ford employees for £995 deposit, NO monthly payments then you can pay the residual payment or give it back. So basically i've got a £18k brand new car to drive for 13 mths for £995, they even taxed it for me.
There be a large number of Kuga's hitting the secondhand market in a years time, reckon they'll be worth £7k/8k.

A friend of mine has a similar deal on a Kuga, he was told that Ford wants people to see them on the road, to raise the profile.I enquired about one at my local Ford dealership. Chap said he couldn't take me for a test drive there and then as he was by himself (rural dealer, tiny) but took my details and said he'd give me a call.

I was at the launch at the HFC, it was intresting to see what the car could really do off road.
We also got to track it for a couple of laps. Massive understeer but coped better than you would have thought.
It is a bit too dear, and they need to give it the powershift gearbox ASAP.
Let's be honest, would you rather have a Freelander or the Kuga? Chassis and tech is very similar TBH.
