If you are thinking about fitting HID bulbs into your existing light fittings.... Please...please dont!!!
They are a nightmare for dazzling other drivers and just look cack...
Get yourself a proper set of HID light clusters if you have to do it...
The standard HID lights fitted to my car are fitted with an auto leveling system so I never have the lights aimed to high... and have washers build into the bumper to make sure that a build up of dirt on the lens does not refract light into other peoples eyes....

Well ive just ordered a kit so if I fit them and get stopped what is potential punishment?
Please let me point out as a side note that I would fit factory xenon units but they are ridiculously silly money being audi and on a car worth maybe 2-3500k spending 5-800 pounds just on headlights seems silly to me. The standard lights are so cr@p that i may as well not have them on. I am not overly keen on anything non standard being fitted to my car (I still use the manufacturer specified tyres) but the lighting situation is just ridiculous. It has an auto adjust feature which means i can adjust the light level up and down through quite a range.
Not really sure what else to do really.

If your car has projector headlights then fitting a HID kit into them will be fine.. I don't know what kit you have ordered but I would stick to OEM ( 4100k ) if possible or 5000k.Please let me point out as a side note that I would fit factory xenon units but they are ridiculously silly money being audi and on a car worth maybe 2-3500k spending 5-800 pounds just on headlights seems silly to me. The difference between OEM and a 6000k aftermarket bulb is around 1000 lumens which is quite a lot.
HTH.

Put some Philips +80 bulbs in. Regular fitment, legal, the beam scatter and cutoff are correct... and I can say hand on heart that the ones fitted to my old Micra are as good as the xenons on my barge.
Tried that no use. Really pathetic.Seriously I am here as I am fed up. The other issue is due to the high miles I do i suspect part of the problem is that the headlamp glass gets effectively sandblasted and is probably adding to the problem.

It would seem you need a H7 kit.
Dave.

As long as they are projector headlights with a clear lens then they will be fine as these are what HID's are designed to work properly in. If you have glass patterned lenses then please dont as they will scatter the beam and dazzle people.
For the record i fitted a set in my Corsa with projector lenses 3 years ago and has passed 3 MOT's and never had problems with dazzle/plod

The xenons on your barge need changing then..

Both are still bloody good though...
I have HID lights in both my cars - went to my friendly local MOT'r and had them set up so as not to dazzle and have driven towards them whilst they were being driven with no dazzle.
I chose a 4300k kit which is very close to the colour that is used in OE applications and doesn't look like it should be on a Saxo / Corsa etc. Don't waste your money on anything much higher than that.
Instantly found driving out of town improved and notice more things in town, haven't had any drivers flash or become annoyed at them. Found dipped beam to be the biggest improvment.
Paid around £140 total for two sets and took 20 mins each to fit with no cutting of wires so they can be removed if need be.
So, all in a big
