You know the situation, 40 everywhere brigade member infront loses you through the 30 zone then you catch them straight up in the NSL. Found a nice overtaking spot and got straight past with indicators, perfectly safe overtake. Next thing main beam. This happens so much I really wanted to stop for a chat to see what the problem was. So I braked fairly heavily and opened my door. The person behind me stopped some distance back and turned his main beam off. Why main beam if you are scared to have a convo with the person you just main beamed? Are all the "i main beam after a perfectly safe overtake" fkers this stupid/scared/retarded?

He didn't I just drove off (and he followed very far in the distance with no main beam! laugh) after I saw that he thought I was going to threaten him, I just wanted to see what the problem was tbh! Didn't want to intimidate him (not that I can - I'm a 20 yr old 6 foot and 12 stone lol)

They're probably just annoyed that you woke them up. I'm convinced that can be the only reason why I seem to invoke a similar reaction from drivers I overtake.

Some people just get very upset when you "take their place" in the "queue". Happens to me all the time.

You probably had your rear fogs on. rofl

To be honest, I hate it when people overtake me on single carriageway A roads - not that it happens very often - but the centre of the road is often full of stones and you just spray them all over the car you've overtaken.

Bizarrely whilst I was driving back up the A6 today not one but two drivers actually indicated left as I went to pass them and my appreciative flick of the hazards was met with a brief flash of their headlights... Doesn't happen often these days, even in Cumbria!

I got caught overtaking an unmarked police car. They pulled me over and said we wouldn't have done anything if your passenger wasn't swearing out the window. He got a caution and i couldn't stop laughing all the way home. Not to self in future wait till the car ahead either turns off or beat him round the round-a-about. Also control mates agression to other drivers even when they aren't in the wrong. The police did like my car though which was a bonus.

Brilliant, usually happens for me in Scotland. Always so refreshing and makes my day.

If I am driving slowly then I will always do this.

With me sometimes I think its the car - A teenager in a 1.3 Fiesta over-taking a 'middle aged' man who has 'worked his way to the top of the car chain' with his base model E36 BMW rolleyes

I wonder if Undertakers (as in those who bury people) rub their hands with glee when they see that as they overtake. "Get to the office quick. Thats a customer on his way"

Same thing happened to me tonight. Perfectly safe overtake. I saw him react to my indicator so he knew I was coming, and then as soon as I'm past he gives me main beam and blinds me. Both stupid and dangerous. Makes me want to fit a few powerful headlights on my parcel shelf linked to a battery on the back seat scratchchin

Sadly the art of a safe overtake is lost on most people.

Overtaking is not illegal, FFS !

I get this main beam malarky all the time too? What's it supposed to mean - 'I think that was a dangerous manouver so I will try and blind you and hinder your progress as much as I can?'

I had a guy try and ram me off the road today in his Mazda. I was on a road going downhill and could see for a good mile ahead and it was clear. So, I signalled, pulled out and started to overtake. However, this obviously only looked at the 20m in front of his car and thought this was dangerous so pulled out into me. Then he decided to overtake the car in front of him that he'd been pootling behind before and stayed out alongside this car for as long as possible to make sure I couldn't overtake.

It's depressing people have so little in their stty lives that they have to try to make everyone else on earth as angry as they are.

alot of the 40 mph brigade also dont use mirrors, therefore have no idea you are there till they see you out of the windscreen, i reckon the flash of the lights is done out of fear!
