Motion Works of Silverstone

I heard a whisper today that Motion Works of Silverstone have gone belly-up. Does anyone else have any news on this.

I was about to say I hope not as they made a good job of the Silverstone Classic last year and hoped they'd push it forward this year. Then I read this on their site

So it appears they are no longer the organisers for 2009. Reading between the lines were CAE miffed at MWUK taking all the credit for putting the Classic on last year? Or is it purely because the event made a loss?

Just goes to show how difficult it is to make money organising events like this.

Despite the success of the event from a PR POV and positive public and press comments, there's only one way to ensure you're still there the next year and that's to make a profit.

A lot of companies similar to Motion Works are going to find it very tough going this year...

With regard to the Classic I have my suspicions that the fact that it was the most miserable bloody summer for years kept ticket sales down, even though the weather turned out to be scorchio all weekend.

I just wonder if they, or who, will be organising the London to Brighton week-end in November this year?

We really dropped lucky on that one

It was a st summer, but the weekend of the Classic was simply amazing!
