Rubbish Cars In The Snow

Has anyone been unsuccessful in getting to work/uni/college/anywhere in the snow so far? I failed miserably to get to uni today! After 5 steepish hills and the back constantly trying to overtake the front for 90 minutes I turned back.

I know the MX5 has no weight over the back wheels, but 3 times my passenger had to get out and push, all in the space of 4 miles

The boot is now full of heavy stuff in preperation for another attempt

My CLK is easily the worst car I've ever had when it comes to driving in the snow. Unless the ESP is switched off, as soon as it loses traction when moving off, it cuts all power. All of it. Plus, it has an autobox and 245 rear tyres, not a great combination. That's why it's sat in the garage at home, and I've used SWMBO's Colt to come to work.

my 200sx was shocking yesterday! I have race logic traction control which was next to useless in the snow as well.

Not recently, but my 306 used to be rubbish in the snow, doors wouldn’t open, wouldn’t start, heaters didn’t work, wouldn’t go anywhere, then wouldn’t stop.............actually that might of been my fault for buying a cheap car and being a rubbish driver !

astra diesel auto

SWMBOS company car, traction control kicks in teh millisecond a wheel spins slightly and shuts down all power. we live on a gentle hill with one way out to teh main road at the top and you just can't go up it at all. My old V70 goes up fine as does pretty much everything else off the estate including RWD stuff. Its almost embarrassing(well, more so than the original embarrasment of driving an Astra in teh first place).

A 200SX is fantastic compared to a C43 AMG.

RWD+Autobox+Traction Control+300BHP+300lb/ft-LSD=getting stuck on entry ramp to local filling station forecourt.

I used to love blatting around in my 200SX in the snow - no traction contol but a slippy diff - perfect

My GTV is crap, Doors freeze up, when they open they dump show all over seats and heater takes ages to work in this weather.
Once you get past that though the only time its broken traction was when I have been acting like a child in the empty work car park.

My Rover 25 GTi (don't laugh) was next to useless this morning. After 15 minutes trying to get out of the car park at home I gave up and got into my wifes Octavia and drove straight out.

I suppose there are benefits to having a reasonably heavy car with narrowish tyres and a pitiful engine with no power and even less torque.

I'll second the S2000 vote, heart in mouth stuff whilst driving and then the feeling of being a driving god for having got to your destination in one piece

Thought autos are meant to be better in the snow...

Range Rover Sport was entertaining but got there OK, tried in my old Range Rover Classic running mud tyres and that was just boring, just went over every thing I pointed it at even the very steep ungritted hill that is the back way out of my village.

no problems here,4wd was capable enough, but you could step it out easily...not that I tried of course,that would be silly

Oh yes, the Audi S4 has been awesome. I've just been 'plowing' on through the snow and ice no problems.

And people said I was mad! Mad I tell you!
