Cars of your childhood!
Discussion
So, what was/were the car/s from your childhood? The ones from family holidays and trips to the supermarket?
Post a picture as well.
My mum had a 1982 Audi 80, and my dad had a 1983 Audi 100 Avant. The 80 died off when I was young, but the 100 did 350,000 miles and was still working when scrapped in 2003.
Can't find any pics of mine sorry, but yeah post your with a story or picture.

First car I owned, aged 6 or 7ish was a white one of these:

second car a few years later after finally wrecking the Citroen was one of these:

which had been imported from Saudi Arabia for some reason - it still had the plastic protective delivery film on the interior. I paid the princely sum of £15 for it IIRC, replaced the condenser to get it into full running state! Unfortunately met it's demise when the J turn through trees trick was moved to a newer, closer set of tree's. Turned out they were a bit tooo close together
last of my off-road cars before I started restoring one ready for when I was 17 - identical to this pic....
thing was a rocket, and great fun on the off road track.

No pic's of it but.. i do remember my Dad's 1st new (company) car in 1980.
It was a lime green Mk 5 Cortina 1.6L, Reg i still remember.. CPX 329W
It had a plastic/vinyl interior which after my brother puked in it stank of sick forever after!
Funnily enough my 1st car was also a Mk 5 Cortina, 2.0GL though.

My dad's cars were dreadful:
Morris Marina- JUD xxxL Orange with Black vinyl interior
Austin Princess 2.2HL Auto- RMR 521S Beige with brown vinyl roof and brown velour seats
Morris Ital 1.7HL Estate- YFY 910W White with orange/red interior
Rover SD1 2300- GHU 438X Navy blue with smelly beige interior
Austin Montego 2.0L- E909 VKD Champagne metallic with grey interior
Austin Metro 1.0L- D703 OFM White with grey interior (I learnt to drive in this, it was rubbish)
Ford Sierra 1.8LX- J553 LCK Dagenham Blue with blue interior
Ford Fiesta 1.1LX- G229 PTU Burgundy with grey interior. Actually fun to drive
Vauxhall Astra 1.4 LX- P130 MOE Blue with grey.
I'll stop at this point as I'd pretty much left home at this point. It's a wonder I'm into cars at all, my parents think I'm mad. They just don't understand that driving is fun...

My father's favourite car was his Cortina 1500GT like this but in Monaco Red with a black vinyl roof and rostyles.

Prior to that, he had a Zephyr 4 (French Blue) and 6 (Black)

a Vauxhall Victor FB in this colour:

a Singer Gazelle in this colour:

paired with an Imp in council house green:

but one had to go and sadly the Gazelle sold first.
My father never liked the Victor nor the Imp (4 child family!)but loved the Gazelle.
After the Cortina, he had a Firenza 2000SL in Flamenco red with black vinyl roof:

before "turning Japanese" with a Corolla 30, Cressida 2000 and then having a Princess 2200HLS.

Not much of any interest for me:
My mothers first car was Morris 1300 in a flat blue. Went onto my Aunt who then sold it to a guy who provides background cars for tv shows. It was good fun and at least a bit different from the boring modern cars my friends mums had.
My Father had some bad cars followed by some dull company cars
The only thing I really liked was the Mitsubishi Galant 8th gen. I loved this car. It was the first car he had that I thought looked good. It also had the 2.5v6 and the semi auto tiptronic auto box with paddle shift. I borrowed it a lot when I had dates etc, as I wanted to hide the fact that I was driving my mums old Orion 1.3L.
The only really interesting car when growing up was my grandads Morris Minor. It had a crank start and was primer gray but I loved it. It also went on to be purchased by the tv car guy, and has been seen by my mum on a few period tv shows she likes.

Ltd edition mk4 cortinas! My old man had three co cars IIRC, one was a "carousel" in gold and brown metallic two tone, the other was a "Crusader" in silver and dark grey two tone!
Cannot remember the other, but pretty sure it was siver and blue..?
He used to crash a lot and it was forever smashed up, but never got fixed! Me and my Bro got kudos at school from our peers as we told them my dad was a stuntman!

Short legs. Even shorter trousers. Black vinyl booster seat and britax kiddy harness. Black vinyl seats. Austin Maxi. Child locks and not allowed the windows down in the back. Trips to the beach. Seats, Straps, Buckles and ambient air like molten lava. Aircon at least 3 more car swaps down the line. Only Dad's choice of 12 golden bars album by Status Quo to listen to. Clothing made from fashionable man made fibres.
Seen those films where they keep prisoners of war out in the sun in corugated tin boxes? Mine had a BL badge stuck to the grill.
What did Dad replace the Maxi with? Yes, another Maxi!
