There were many of these floating around at one time but I would think they have all gone to meet their maker by now! They nearly always looked really naff with the wrong wheels or ride height and often nasty paintwork. Not to mention the standard interiors.

i want one with bodywork issues with me being in the bodywork trade but has to be half decent. im not bothered about the interior just like the escorts look.

Not if they're done properly by someone who knows what a real one looks like they don't. whistle

Genuine escort cossies are built around a sierra 4x4 drivetrain. They are a fair bit wider, and longer as well iirc smile

If you built one around an RS2000 or similar it would always look wrong.

Cosworth body shells (Sierra/Escort/new/old/used/rolling/whatever) come up on Ebay from time to time. The 1.3 engined 3-door Sierra must have been one of the most underpowered cars of all time!

I suspect final prices will be rather high though, they are still very much in demand in rallying.

yup, the cut a chunk out of the middle to shorten it though. The escort cossie isnt really an escort at all, its a shortened sierra with a fat escort body plonked ontop. escorts had transverse engines too, the cossie doesnt. It still looks brilliant though smile

Escort replica's are very hard to do.
Mostly due to the extra length in thw wheelbase of a genuine cossie compaired to a normal escort. Not 100% but i think its over 5 inches longer, replicas have back wheels that look too close to the door compaired to a genuine one. If you get what i mean..
Best replica base is either an 130bhp XR3i or a rs2000. Both come with rear discs as standard and thats a major giveaway on most replica's, drums on the rear.

For the sake of building a replica, when you have sourced the bodykit (very expensive) got decent suspension, found a interior and dash etc your looking at a few grand.

Genuine saphs can be had from £4-5k for a decent car.
3 doors for about £7500+
Escorts from £8k for a high mileage in crap colour with scabby history example

I'm dont claim to be an expert but i can see the 2 are wrong. I mean if your only trying to fool an idiot then just stick on the big spoiler at the back.
Alternately just get a real one crash damaged or something and fix the panels.

Buy yourself a nice car and enjoy it, buy a cossie when you can afford it.
