Petrol Station Air machine Vandalism

Why is it only the ones that give free air that always get vandalised, and then repeatedly destroyed as soon as its replaced, untill the garage owners decide to replace it with a non free option.


its just tiresome leaving out and literally having to gamble weather it will be working today or not.


this happen anywhere else?

I don't think they're vandalised...or if they are it's by the garage owners themselves...curious how the problem goes away once they're "chargeable" isn't it?

Is France that mandates free air and water must be available at all fuel outlets?

Dont get too much vandalism with mine. We do get some people complain that they shouldn't have to pay for air. One bloke got quite shirty about it once so I told him the air was free and he was welcome to get on his knees and blow his own tyres up!

There all bloody broken round here. So annoying when you need to fill the squirty bottle up to find its broken and your not near home.

Its either a Yoof Culchur thing I've never come across, or the low margin garage owners not bothering to do proper maintenance on a machine that makes them no money, and doesnt immediately impact footfall into or away from the garage. You decide...

tell me bout it! for instance the last 2 wks... soooo much crap flying about its a full time job just keeping the screen clean... and then the bottle runs dry.. Doh!

I know they get stolen. The one near me had a fitting that could be ran off any compressor, it got nicked as soon as the garage had a refit and the cameras were not on. They need to make the pressure guage part of the big compressor box rather than have it on the pipe end. It would make it a pain in the ass to use, but would stop people stealing them.

I always assumed that the reason they were free was because if you had to pay for them, people would vandalise them to pinch the 20p's in the coin box ...

They are usually free around the London area. For reasons which I assumed were as above!

Opposite here in Ireland. The old pay air pumps got vandalised and you used to have to go in to the station to purchase a token to try and cut down on the scrotes busting them up for the coins.

Now they all seem to be free
