I can't find 17 inch BFG Muds

Hello,
Has any of the 4x4 fraternity been looking for BFG mud tyres.
I am looking for 5 or 6 BFG mud terrains
265 x 70 x R17
They seem to be scarce, but I am willing to look all over for some.

If any one can help, please give me a shout

you're going to struggle with those tyre sizes as they don't officially import 17" tyres into the UK- its a bit like trying to get a set of 315/75r16- yes they exist but getting them here is nigh on impossible.

haev you thought about Cooper Discovere STTs (don't wear as well but they are cheaper and just as effective off road), of maybe Kumho KL71? or something a little oddball like Creepy Crawlers?

Try a web search for sinton tyres and north hants tyres.

Both of them should be able to help as they both import US spec tyres

Maxxiss are rated as good as BFG muds, and a st load cheaper

I am a bit of a BFG fan.
The reason I am essentially looking for BFG muds, is I am planning a drive down to Cape Town.

I have the 265 x 70 x R17 All terrains.
They are as new.
Well, what a superb tyre.

The ride, the wear, all positive points.

I was simply looking at possibly a more aggressive tread.
While maintaining the 70,000 mile expected life time.

My son has BFG Muds, OK, a litle noisy on the road, but looking at the tread, it almost looks like it is inpenatrable.

I am not 100% hung up on the BFg muds, but if I could get some I would.

So, The alternatives,

Coopers
Maxxis
Creepy Crawler.

Who has really used these alternative tyres for long distance, not really a weekend 'play day' where longetivity isn't all that is required.

If you insist on BFG MT's for your overlanding give Southam Tyres a call on 01926 813510 as they always used to be able to get odd sizes.

However, I wouldn't use BFG MT's for the kind of trip you described. There is only one tyre for that trip. It doesn't look fashionable but it is so much tougher than a BFG it makes them look like they are made of chocolate. It's the venerable Michelin XZY, the choice of overlanders who know what they are doing!
