We are in the process of painting 2 of our TVRs. Our painter has a very limited amount of time to complete both cars before her surgery. She couldn't get proper paint codes on TVR colors so she did some other samples for us. Unfortunately the 2 colors that we like are both (here is our sin)
MX5 colors. What do we do??

Should we be upfront if someone asks about the color?

Should we just say it was the paint sample that we liked best and not say its
has MX5 background?

Should we just be happy that the painting of the cars is complete and we are happy with how things went?

Fellow PH's please forgive us for our sin as we have been pushed into a corner with our painters surgery and she is the only one that I trust painting my cars. It will be at least 6 more months waiting for her to be back at work if we don't accept the paint samples that she has supplied us with.

There you should feel better now.

Nice thing about TVR is that you could have whatever colour you wanted.

I'd happily use invalid carriage blue if it was what suited the car.

TVRs tend to be painted in whatever the colour the punter wanted irrespective of where it came from I believe. Mine is a Lotus colour. Pacific Blue IIRC.

Go for it smile

Seriously, are you serious? For the love of all that is automotive you should be happy with your colour choices and stop worrying about any perceived connotations towards other manufactuers colourways!

If your that bothered, just go for primer grey ala two lane blacktop! smile

Both cars are going to be painted in a deep red from the MX5 line. As they are both cars that were converted to 302s by the Canadian importer I would like to stay as close to original as possible. Each year it is harder to stay to original as I stroked mine to 347 for some more HP and we did a conversion on the Spousal Units car to an automatic. My daughters 73 2500M has a supercharger on it.

Doesn't matter. For some cars and some punters, a 'genuine' colour matters. But usually for rare or limited-edition cars...
