Why can't cars gearbox be like motorbikes?

Since I started riding a motorbike a couple of years ago, I've come to love the gearbox on a bike as it's much like a manual car with
clutch but it's sequential rather than an H pattern shift. As I hate DSG/SMG type gearboxes with a passion - just seems like a glorified
auto box with manual override so you never feel 100% in control. I wish that manufacturers would offer cars with a sequential box.
Why do they not offer it in mainstream cars?

i used to find it hard to select neutral, 1st time, everytime, on my bikes,
like said above, people wouldn't put up with it.
imagine them old farts on sunday afternoons, the're bad enough with
an auto.

Yes, but then a friend of mine who is a very well known and respected rally driver has gone through his sequential box o his Super1600 a couple of times now- he had to work out whether to shift on full bore, trailing throttle or part throttle. They are great for some situations but for daily driving a DSG box will be 99% as good and 5 times easier as well as 10 times more reliable.

to preserve the longevity I'm sure. The thing which I don't like about DSG/SMGs is that without the clutch normal everyday stuff like reversing inch by inch
or pulling off can be a pain.

Clutchless shifts are easier on the gearbox. It just slips in naturaly smooth as silk. less mechanical stress than engaging and dissengaging the clutch with the differentionals in engine revs and gear box that occur..

AFAIK DSG is a sequential manual gearbox but it is two separate manual gearboxes each with their own clutch whereas SMG is just a modified H-pattern gearbox.
I guess normal cars don't have true sequential manual gearboxes because of cost, longevity plus occasional issues finding a gear when not moving.
