How long before we start getting Chinese cars imported here?

You'd have thought that by now new car manufacturers would have learnt that they should stick to conventional designs. There are some seriously ugly Chinese cars. I'm terrible at drawing but give me a pad of paper, some clay modellers and a week and I'll come up with a range of great looking cars that you could market.

I mean, it doesn't cost more to produce an ugly car than a good looking one, so I don't know what they're playing at.

I guess they would have to be private imports, as any company linking themselves to such pieces of poo would get sued for blatantly copying other designs.

They have no taste. They really don't know what is good looking or not.

It takes some time to aquire taste. You can't read about it in a book.

They don't know which designs to copy.

indeed, the day the Chinese come out with a 20 grand Dino lookalike with a modern drivetrain, I will be applauding them.

does the site owner get paid for each click made?
I got to my 3rd click, and decided to fund his beer money any more !

As for the chinese making cars and them being "imported."
Well, think back some 60 years... Aren't we saying now, what was said back then about the japanese ?

Folk would laugh back-in-the-day if you said you wanted a jap' car, and you would buy magazines about jap' cars, and play games with jap' cars.

Imagine saying that a jap' car would be the quickest around the 'ring ??
teenage boys will have posters of women, obviously; and japanese motors...

biggrin

The chinese do seem to have made a nice job of the MG-6.
Admittedly, aesthetically only as I haven’t seen the interior, nor heard of any test runs. But it does look nice, imo.

There's the Chinese car Chery. Not sure how it's pronounced... 'cheery' or 'cherry'. Either way, it's so awful you're unlikely to feel cheery driving it or to lose your cherry in it wink

Replying to a 15 year old post? Why not. Chery motors now sold as two brands/sub-brands/whatever in the UK, Jaecoo and Omoda. Omoda is supposed to be the posh one, but both are selling fairly bland-looking SUV things.
