PistonHeads Track Days 2009 - Reminder

The sessions are booking up steadily, so make sure you book your place at one of the forthcoming PH track events.

Cadwell. Not scary at all.
Cadwell. Not scary at all.
Last month we told you about the 2009 series of PistonHeads track days held in association with Club MSV. It's been great to see that some of you have already booked up, but here are the details again for those that may have missed it the first time around.

Snetterton Open Pit Lane Evening 25th June 2009

Cadwell Park Open Pit Lane Evening 23rd July 2009

Bedford Autodrome Open Pit Lane Evening 27th August 2009

Brands Hatch Open Pit Lane Evening 10th September 2009

Brands Hatch Open Pit Lane FULL DAY19th November 2009

Noise limits are in place at the circuits and these are as follows:

Snetterton 102dB(A)

Cadwell 105dB(A)

Bedford 101dB(A)

Brands Evening 102dB(A)

Brands Day 105dB(A)

PistonHeads track events are very relaxed and informal so don't worry if you haven't been on track before as in addition to a pitlane full of friendly PHers, MSV will also be on hand to offer you some track tuition too.

All sessions run an open pit lane format, so you will be guaranteed plenty of track time, and can come on and off circuit as you please.

We look forward to seeing you there, and if you need further information on the events please click here

OH,what a supprise,PH running a track day/meet for everyone down south,AGAIN,one day they might venture north to Oulton Park or Yorkshire Moors or Lakes, but cant see that happening till someone from PH moves up north.
I dont know why they dont hold the PH show at Earls Court too!!!!!

You do know where Cadwell is, don't you? And Snetterton isn't convenient for anyone.

What's the issue? Most of the ACTIVE members are in the south.

IIRC events have been hold up North but weren't as well attended as Southern ones.

Nothing to stop you sorting your own Northern thing out.

paperbag Knockhill?
And about the only place left where no-one seems to bother about the noise.

A few things from MSV's new Track Day Regulations that may discourage a few:

All participants must wear crash helmets of a recognised manufacture and complying with the current Safety Requirements of the BSI 6658-85A or BSI 6658 –85A/FR, or MSA/ACU/FIM/FIA standards. All helmets must be correctly fitted - not a bad decision, but possibly a tad OTT as there are many road legal hemets that do not conform to these standards.

Drivers of open top and single-seater cars must at all times whilst on-circuit, wear gloves - nothing major, but not enforced before this year.

TYRE NOISE AND DRIVING STANDARDS. Any driver generating excessive, unnecessary or constant tyre squeal [...] This includes prolonged deliberate oversteer, or “drifting”. [...] Deliberate and excessive power slides will be dealt with in exactly the same way.

Best to read all the regulations before booking wink

I think you will find all operators using the main tracks in England will be insisting on these very soon, if they are not already. All gone a bit PC IMHO but hey.

In my limited experience MSV trackdays are very well run. As a bit of a novice in a not-so-fast car I prefer to have the aggressive drivers black flagged rather then let them spoil everyone elses day. Depends what you want, I guess.

If only a few ‘no db limits’ days could be in there. I can hear Brands Hatch from my back garden.

The sound level allowed on the track has been reduced over the years. The noise was never intrusive and it sounds no different than it ever did, despite the reductions. This makes the reduction pointless.

The only practical difference is that I’m not allowed on my local circuit.

Is the 102db limit at Snetterton correct?

Should I take the Cerb?

Hmmmmm

I'll have a think.

It's the costing at Brand Hatch which discourages me. £119 for 2 and 1/2 hours only on the evening session, or £139 for 6 hours for the full day. I'd be keen for the evening only but when you work out the hourly rate of £47 per hour I am somewhat less interested.

HI THERE!

NEW TO THIS,SO PLEASE BEAR WITH ME.

I HAVE BEEN ON A FEW DRIVING DAYS NOW,AND WOULD LOVE TO GET BACK INTO TRACK DAYS,ALTHOUGH I USED TO RACE BIKES,AND DID TRACK DAYS ON THE BIKES,MY AGE,AND OTHER FACTORS TELL ME TO KEEP OFF BIKES,INCASE OF EASY ACCIDENTS,AND BROKEN BONES AGAIN!
SO WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE OUT THERE WITH THE SAME THOUGHTS,AND LIVING IN THE MIDLANDS AREA,WOULD LIKE TO GET TOGETHER,AND INVEST JOINTLY IN A ROAD/TRACK CAR TO SHARE EXPENSE. IE PURCHASE,RUNNING COSTS OF CAR (THOUGHT ABOUT BIKE POWERED WESTY,MK ETC.
TRACKS I LOVE,DONNINGTON,OULTON,MALLORY.
BUDGET FOR CAR £8000-£10000,SPLIT TWO OR THREE WAYS!

ANY THOUGHTS PLEASE REPLY,AND ALSO ANYONE KNOW MUCH ABOUT THE BIKE POWERED CARS,RELIABILITY,REGULATIONS ETC.

MANY THANKS
JOHN.

Cadwell needs respect, esp the mountain and the blind off camber bits - Only one way to do it: Be Brave, it's incredibly rewarding when you hook it all together. probably the most demanding and satisfying circuit I've ever done.
