Electric Go-Karts

I've been on some at a place in the centre of Brum - not as bad as you'd think actually. Can't remember the name of the place though even though I'm on the mailing list and get offers through every week.
Very good if your karting with a hangover too.
Yep, i've been there (it's your mention of the spam that confirmed it) They are OK, they pick up faster than a petrol engine too.Very good if your karting with a hangover too.

I've done a lot of karting and electric is sVery good if your karting with a hangover too.
t! It's just so boring. You get an email every week because business is s
t for them cos its crap so they try and drag you in with 35% off vouchers. AVOID!!
Yes, they had them in Switzerland years ago... you gotta love the Swiz, they even made us wear flame proof balaclavas under our helmets too! (although I'm guessing these were more for hygiene rather than risk of electrical burns!)
...and yes, they were pretty dire. However racing a few members of Sauber team ensured the element of competition wasnt lost.

So general opinion is to avoid? The website I'm looking at states they reach 40/50 in 4 seconds, which is a hell of a lot faster than the petrol hire-karts I've used before. The only real difference is the noise other than that I assume? I know the 2 strokes will be better but they're not really an option unfortunately.
They're quick enough for an indoor kart track but are immensely boring to watch between races (all you hear is tyre squeal), and not that exciting to drive as you hear only a faint rushing of wind, a bit of tyre squeal, and the the bloke smacking into the back of you that you didn't know was there.
Electric go karts are good fun. Not as much fun as the petrol offerings, but still, its a chance to tool around inches from the ground and engage in all the normal bragging rights, smack talk nonsense that we love so much.
If you can afford it and fancy a go, why not? Report back and let us know how it went.

Electric karts are too heavy. One really feels the extra inertia under all conditions. The numb and dumb turn in is the worst. The karts made the track I was on even more about trying to maintain momentum and using the smallest amount of steering lock possible.
It was so bad I wrote to them. They offered a free ride, but it was not nearly entertaining enough at that price either. I thought to myself that someone could put them out of business with 4 grubby gas karts and an empty parking lot.

The electric karts have 100% of the torque available from the get go. That's the only positive thing I can say about them. I race in the new Sodi world series for leisure karts and frequently at buckmore park in their man of steel hire kart events. i would have to have a word if I thought there was any danger of switching to electric karts.
